I have no idea how I finally got where I am, but I'm very happy to be here. I've been in the TV field for four years now, and in that time I went from a P.A. to a Production Coordinator to a Music and Audio Supervisor and now I'm Producing and Editing shows to boot...suffice it to say, things rarely get boring, especially when I'm doing all of it at the same time.
I spent ten years muckin' around and paying my starving-artist dues as a composer, mostly doing independent films and commercial work. I loved writing music but couldn't deal with the constant state of dwelling in the land of the fiscally challenged anymore, so it was time for a major change.
I hooked up with a local company as a production assistant and they just happened to get a show on Fox's Speed Channel (what are the odds??) a few months later called "Unique Whips" which focussed on a New York based shop that does car customizing for A-List celebs, and thus began my 9 to 5 job. Well, more like 9 to 12am, but hey, who's complaining.
Turns out all those years as a composer gave me crazy skills on levels I'd never even thought of at the time, and I jumped into the position of Music Supervisor for all three Seasons of the show. I found all the music you hear in each episode from a wide range of up and coming artists from across the globe, did music and audio edits and also became the Audio Supervisor overseeing the final mixdown of each show.
The show ran it's course in 2007, and the Supervising Producer and I started up our own joint, In The Basement Productions LLC, to pursue our own show ideas.
So here we are a year later, I'm currently producing and editing the second of two "Unique Whips: Special Edition" episodes featuring superstars 50 Cent and LeBron James which will be airing in November of 2008 on Speed.
Yeah, producing and editing...who knew?? I absorbed a lot from my incredibly talented partner, and the whole process is actually a lot like scoring for film. It was a very natural transition and I absolutely love it.
And just to insure I'm a full fledged workaholic with a total lack of a social life, when I'm not producing, shooting in the field, doing photoshop layouts or editing virals for various clients, I also own and operate In The Basement Music LLC, a music supervision/library and publishing company which places the hottest up and coming music from extremely talented artists on networks like MTV, VH-1 and Fox.
So stay tuned...at this rate, I'll be shooting my first feature in 2009, haha. SO that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Thanks for reading (if you made it this far!), and feel free to say hi!
