About Me

time, space, money, sound, text, dogs, technology, inexplicable grace, design problems over crosswords and all art as participant sport.
Sound:I like specific sonic landscapes, if not of place, then of memory or imagination, the minor key, and the human voice so low, so intimate, and rounded on the bottom end that it takes your breath away. I also like music that approximates nature at its most violent. I do love a beat that is almost falling apart. And nail the reverb; Dub it all.
Images: 8 1/2…. Bladerunner… Beau Travaile…Angels&Insects…some of Peter Greenaway’s films like The Draftsman’s Contract, The Cook The Thief His Wife & Her Lover and Prospero’s Books….Melville’s films like Le Samourai with Alain Delon…anything Visconti. I'm interested in where film/performance is now....Holography, Photography, Robotics, FX, Appropriation, Hacking & Re-mix/contextural manipulation, Streaming...... but I am unwilling to sacrifice aesthetics and my expectation of meaning.
I read non-fiction, both categories: books written from indisputable fact and books that are POV, regardless of accuracy. I want to hear from people who were there. In fiction or half fiction I seek out the space where Sci-Fi and the Victorian co-exist, interesting lives, alchemy and miracles, codes, mapping, research scientists & the perfection of dandies, travelers and survivors. I gravitate toward female characters I can relate to. I’ll always read any contemporary writer that can write a excellent first person picaresque that offers a good laugh. I am more inclined toward reading Rikki Ducornet than Kathy Akers…prefer Bowles and Durrell over Burroughs and Bukowski. I also love narrative photography where the language is universal. I like the feel of laid paper.
Heroes Everywhere: I am inspired by every single heroic choice made by absolutely anyone refusing to fold, especially in the face of such overwhelming odds.

My Interests

IDEAS.... all the better if they involve Victorian London, 18th century France, cabinets of curiosity, cyberpunk, cyborgs, androids & automatons, codes, mapping, legionnaires, explorers, circuit bending, miniatures, dandies, engines, sailing, F1, chihuahuas, fine jewelry, miracles, perfume, biophysics, all music, math and architecture that is astonishing
