About Me

i started playing geetar @ 12 years old after doing time on piano & trumpet... didn't really get rolling 'til I moved to San Diego in '88... played w/lots of local bands. eventually wound-up in a band with Walter & Tim from San Diego's Pull Toys and a great singer named Sioban, which became known as Liquid Sunshine. We played with lots of local and touring bands... opened for Smashing Pumpkins once @ the old Casbah, among others. That band folded in '92 & I started a band called Uncle Joe's Big Ol' Driver with Dave Jass and George Vidauri. We made two records for Cargo/Headhunter, toured a bunch & had a ball. UJBOD busted apart in '95... just after we all moved to Seattle. I then managed to weasel a bogus solo deal outta MCA for my new band Shuggie, made a record for 'em that wound-up coming out on Cargo in '98, changed the line-up, and made another record in '02. Shuggie eased-out of everyday rock action in '03. During all that time I played guitar off & on w/a great local band called Huge Spacebird and had an on again/off again cover band full of Seattle rock folks called 70 Proof... all 70's hard rock covers... wigs, mustaches, bell bottoms- the works. Started a heavy duty rock band w/a few other like minded souls called Black Panties... 'twas tons of fun but unfortunately it didn't last. and I joined The Presidents of the United States of America in '04, where I remain. i still play with Huge Spacebird, and i'm in a Humble Pie cover band called the Fixers w/some good friends... i'm married to the wonderful Kim & we have two incredible kids- Emma & Henry. I think that's plenty for a rapidly aging rock & roll maniac, don't you?

Band Members: The Presidents Of The United States Of America 2004- present: Current band is: Chris Ballew (basitar), Jason Finn (drum), me (guitbass)Huge Spacebird 1996- present: one of the best bands in Seattle. sound like the 80's & 90's never happened. They're kind enough to have me along on 2nd guitar- band is: Mark Hoyt (guitar), Jeff Taylor (bass), Peter Landsdowne (drums)Jon Langford & The Sexy 2004-present: we're Langford's Seattle backing band. LIne-up varies, but when duty calls... The Sexy are always ready to throw down. The Fixers 2004-present: Humble Pie covers, assorted 70's boogie... party band initially... but it's a good name... maybe we'll write some songs & make it a real band... Band is, depending on who's in town: Ron Heathman (guitar), Kurt Bloch (bass or guitar), Jeff Rouse (bass), Scott Giampino (drums), me (guitar/vox)Black Panties 2003-2004: A kick ass punk rock/rock & roll band... Oliver Little (vox), David Weeks (drums), Brian Burnside (bass), me (guitar)Purty Mouth 2003-2004: The best (and probably still the only) almost all-gay country band in Seattle. I played guitar for awhile, fullfilling additional duties as the other heterosexual member of the band... line-up has changed quite a bit since I played w/'em, but they're still great.Shuggie 1996-2006: band has included, at one point or another, at least four of these dudes: Mike Musburger (drums), Jason Staczek (keys), Phil Hurley (bass), Jeff Fielder (bass), Andrew McKeag (guit/vox), Shawn Allen (drums), Rick Roberts (bass), Martin (keys), James Atkins (bass)70 Proof 1996-?: The world's most frighteningly authentic 70's cover band included most of the following: Kurt Bloch, Mike Musburger, Ben London, Paul Passereli, Ron Heathman, Eddie Spaghetti, Mark Hoyt, Jim Sangster, Joe Bass, Shawn Allen, Jason Finn, Jason Staczek, Andrew McKeag & probably a few more... there were often as many as 9 on stage at any given show.Uncle Joe's Big Ol' Driver 1992-1995: Dave Jass (guit/vox), Andrew McKeag (guit/vox), George Viduarri (bass) + at least 9 different drummers in 4 yearsCharosmith 1993: A one-time only Aerosmith cover band featuring a Charo impersonator (Cristina Chabalaba) and a slew of San Diego rock & rollers- could there be a better idea ever? Anyone out there have any pics of our show @ the Casbah so many moons ago?Liquid Sunshine 1990-1992: back in the San Diego Day... highlight was opening for Buzzcocks @ Iguana's/Tijuana... band was Walter (drums), Tim Blankenship (bass/vox), Sioban (vox), Andrew McKeag (guitar).
