The development of TRUCE in New York City has shown itself evident of God's favor and purpose. The complete vision was to train inner city young adults in performing arts for the purpose to share the message of love and redemption wherever God would lead. The urban music ministry of Nicky Cruz Outreach has emphatically pushed into the forefront of the ministries evangelistic tactics.
In September of 1997, TRUCE (To Reach Urban Communities Everywhere) was formed as an outreach into the gang infested Bronx in which thousands of hardened inner city kids will never be the same. The Bronx invasion of the Gospel became the blueprint for the future of TRUCE. This project was a team effort between Nicky Cruz Outreach and Crossroads Tabernacle Church. NCO (Nicky Cruz Outreach) developed TRUCE as an aggressive and unorthodox vehicle to reach the inner cities of North America.
During 1999, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Harlem, New York were cities targeted by the urban strike force of TRUCE, organized by Nicky Cruz Outreach. The ministry travels throughout the country taking the Gospel into areas of violence, gangs and drug infestation. In Milwaukee, a city known for some of the worst gang activity in our nation, over 1,700 were saved. In New York City (Harlem) over 2,000 individuals came to Christ. In 2001, Truce infiltrated the streets of Houston, Texas reaching thousands of young people with the Gospel, utilizing street Hip Hop concerts week upon week. These street events which are often referred to the ministry as 'Hit N' Runz' collectively led up to NCOs Broadway type production of the Nicky Cruz life story "Run Baby Run".
By 2002, the effectiveness of the ministry continued to grow, and TRUCE was now gearing towards international ministry. Under the authority of NCOs President Nicky Cruz and CEO Patrick Dow, the Truce Team of performing arts evangelists were established in New York City. Nicky Cruz Outreach appointed David Ham as the director of Truce in New York. In the spring of 2002, David Ham recruited a dynamic and explosive young adult team to travel and minister in Norway. The music of Truce received live TV coverage and radio play throughout the city of Oslo. However nothing was more significant than seeing hundreds of people get saved each week and witnessing over 500 people come to the altar and give their lives to God at the final crusade night. The Norway project became a launching pad for further production and the establishment of a significant urban music ministry.
The growing development of TRUCE continues to birth a new calling in young adults from across the tri-state. These young adults are filled with gifts and talents, growing in character and integrity and submitting their life to morality and holiness. Each progressing year becomes greater than the last, and the outstanding team of artists becomes a stronger unit as time passes.
