About Me

COMING SOON!

Carlos Camacho - let me tell you. This kid has more heart then anybody I think I’ve ever met in my life. A year ago he was helping plan the first BandJAM & carrying around his guitar everywhere. We didn’t even know he could play. Last night he did a half hour set and KILLED it. Music industry people put his music on their mix tapes amongst new tracks by the Chili Peppers and Jack Johnson. You’d never know the difference. He opened for Ozomatli in May at HOB Anaheim. He’s started booking his own shows. Last night he was incredible.

HITS FROM THE HOOD
NON-PROFITS JOIN FORCES FOR TEEN MUSIC PROGRAMS
Three nationally recognized Los Angeles Non-Profit Organizations are pleased to announce the release of a unique CD titled "PM Records Volume 1" featuring songs written and performed entirely by South Central Youth.

PM Records, a division of Project MuszED in conjunction with A Place Called Home and Art Share Los Angeles have created this 12 song disc showcasing the hidden musical talents of L.A.’s inner city kids. The musical styles on "PM Records Volume 1" are as varied as the featured artists themselves – from Danyol Metcalf’s perfectly crafted "Hip-Pop" to Carlos Camacho’s soulful Latin Acoustic sound, the street vibes of Pimprose, Lizzy Morales’ infectious Pop, Remedy and their classic R&B, and pure Ska excitement from Todoroto. All songs were written, recorded and produced within the centers and proceeds from the sale of this CD will go directly back into those same inner city music programs.
The music and youth performers have already grabbed the attention of many professionals including Grammy-winning producer Jimmy Jam and singer Macy Gray. The Isley Brothers and the Black Eyed Peas invited several of the PM Record’s artists to perform live, opening for their recent concerts.
"I am truly proud of this project." Project MuszEd Founder Charyn Harris says. " It speaks volumes of the talent, dedication and desire of these inner-city youth in making their own efforts to build a positive life for themselves, regardless of the obstacles that surround them. I am also extremely grateful for the many individuals who have helped in supporting this vision and making it a reality. Thank you for helping us to change and save lives."
PM Records President Julie Pilat adds "It’s an incredible achievement for the kids, not just the performers but the fans- their peers- who have something to be proud of as well because their story is finally being told."
Over the last few years a thriving, youth, music community has been built within the centers using music instruction, live shows and recordings to provide opportunity and inspiration to many who may not have otherwise had access to develop their talent nor nurture their creativity.
The April 7th "BandJAM" at Art Share L.A., will serve as the official album release party. Last July 2005, the centers kicked off the widely successful all ages show series called "BandJAM". Since then there have been 4 shows, over 50 performers, and hundreds of attendees. The CD will be available for purchase at the show and also on line at www.apch.org

411 ON WINNING THE "BAND JAM HALL OF FAME AWARD"-
Well, Im a singer/songwriter, and I was awarded the BAND JAM "HALL OF FAME AWARD" :) It was presented to me by Baby Bash, Danny Trejo, Ozomatli, and Miss Prissy from the movie RIZE! It was really cool, and my performance that night at banjam was really good, until the string snapped in the middle of my song! :) but the show had to to go on! Then I was interviewed by Mun2s Frankie Needles Host of "The Roof" It was my first interview and it was real cool! And I had the opportunity to share the stage with Ozomatli at the House of blues!.

AND THIS IS MY STORY-
BIO: I WAS BORN IN EAST LOS ANGELES ON OCTOBER 4,1986. I ALWAYS HAD THIS CONNECTION TO MUSIC THAT I COULDN’T UNDERSTAND AT AN EARLY AGE, BUT AS I GREW OLDER AND WISER I STARTED TO UNDERSTAND. I WAS GIVEN A GUITAR BY MY FRIEND JONATHAN RAMIREZ BECAUSE "HE BELIEVED IN ME" I COULDN’T PLAY A SINGLE NOTE, BUT I PERSISTED AND DIDN’T GIVE UP. AFTER ALOT OF LONG NIGHTS SPENT ON SONGWRITING I ACTUALLY REALIZED THAT I ENJOYED WRITING AND PERFORMING MY MUSIC, AND QUICKLY RECEIVED ALOT OF GOOD RESPONSE FROM THE BIG & SMALL CROWDS OF PEOPLE AT THE SHOWS. I KEEP WRITING MY SONGS IN HOPE THAT IT COULD INSPIRE THIS GENERATION AND NEW GENERATIONS TO COME! SO IF U LIKE MY MUSIC; COME CHECK ME OUT AT A SHOW OR HIT ME UP! I’M PROUD TO BE ON THE 1st BANDJAM COMPILATION CD ( ALREADY OUT SINCE APRIL 7 @ BANDJAM) SO GO TO WWW.APCH.ORG TO PURCHASE THE CD, AND VISIT WWW.ARTSHARELA.ORG FOR MORE INFORMATION ON BANDJAM! FOR THE SIMPLE FACT THAT THERE IS ALOT OF GREAT YOUNG TALENT ON THIS CD. SO CHECK IT OUT! IM CURRENTLY WORKING ON NEW SONGS TO PUT UP ON THE PROFILE, SO HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE MORE SONGS SOON. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, TAKE CARE AND I HOPE TO HEAR FROM U SOON! :)
