Ecology, hiking, camping, fishing, being out on the water (I grew up by the ocean and the Chesapeake), gardening, PROUD LOGGER FOOTBALL MOM ... FOOTBALL & BASEBALL (Go O's, Skins, & Seahawks!), whatever activities my kids are into,...and of course, politics.href='http://www.myspace.com/barackobama'
Jimmy Carter, Nelson Mandella, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Wes Clark, Cisco Morris (master gardener), and Matt and Trey from South Park.I'd also like to meet Dubya so I could let him know how "Dee Dee Dee" he is. Strategeric, nucular, "hard workin" decider dumb-@$$
My son and I discover cool new music all the time, from all genres, except maybe the pop rock my daughter listens to (yes, I pretend to like Hannah Montana, but I don't really have to.)My favorite bands are: Green Day, System of a Down, Audioslave, Clutch (they rock out from MD like me!)Aerosmith, Korn, Ozzy, AC/DC, Def Lepard, the Ramones, Spoon, Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Miles Davis, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Dixie Chicks, Jack Johnson, Brandi Carlile, B.B. King, Eric Clapton...I LOVE Rock music the most (especially 80's stanky butt rock), but like just about every kind of music you can think of including jazz, classical, and rap as long as the musician is talented...
"Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is the best movie ever, although it is now tied in my book with "I am Legend" and "Man on Fire." "The Princess Bride" was my childhood favorite. Monty Python movies are great classics, and "Bigger, Louder, and Uncut" (South Park) is another one of my favorite rainy day movies. I know I'm a nerd, but I like Spinal Tap and all the movies with the "Waiting for Guffman" actors.I can always sit down and enjoy a good Western, like "Big Jake", "Pale Rider", "The Missing", "Tombstone", and "Open Range" too.
South Park junkie!! Eco-tech!! I also like Survivor, The Daily Show, Real Time with Bill Mahr, How I met Your Mother, Lost, Boston Legal, and PBS Nature (way better than Animal Planet)and Flight of the Conchords.
I really like to read my National Geographic magazines - they keep me from becoming another Ignoramus Americanus.
"On The Origin of Species" by Charles Darwin is my favorite book. Darwin and I share the same birthday (and same interests), and I can usually get an intelligent debate going when I mention it.Most of my reading consists of my school textbooks - right now it's "A People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn and Biology text. I also read organic gardening books, medical journals, and books about politics and history. Most newer novels just don't have the fingernail biting, attention catching stories I like.I have been an avid Stephen King fan since 1987, though, and Al Franken books make me laugh.
My grandpa, Maj. Gen. Philip F. Lindeman who recognized the equality of women way before his time and my grandma, Anna Louise, who bravely stood by him during war and peace, Sharon Osbourne for making it okay to talk about your butt problems, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr, Robert Kennedy & Robert Kennedy Jr., and of course, Jimmy Carter (hence my son, Carter).
