Movies:
Chocolat- if you have not seen this movie, go rent it. Delightful in that it deals with every human weakness, delving into our psyches on tolerance, acceptance, indulgence, religion, love, addictions, and chocolate, glorious chocolate!! I wrote the song "Feels Right" after I saw it, pairing it with a guitar melody that I had been practicing for two years. I knew the melody had something to do with a train, had attempted lyrics a couple times but gave up after nothing really seemed to crystallize into a song... Then... my niece and I went to see Phish at the Gorge Ampitheater where she met and fell in love with a boy from Virginia. They could not bear to be away from each other, so he made a four-day trek by train from VA to OR. The night before his arrival, my daughter, niece and I all snuggled up in the bed and watched this movie. The next day, I woke up and did my usual Sunday ritual of coffee, wake-and-bake, and guitar practice. I began going over the train-track melody and lo and behold! there were lyrics this time and they were being sung in my head by John Bell... Feel's Right was born in about 20 minutes- and two years...
