Just about anything Alternative, Punk, & Rock. Favorite alternative bands include Coldplay, Keane, Dashboard Confessional, Augustana, Something Corporate, Counting Crows, Better than Ezra, Stereophonics, Damien Rice, David Gray, Ben Folds, Dido, Natalie Imbruglia, Travis, and of course U2. Favorite Punk bands are All-American Rejects, Jet, Sugarcult, and Greenday. Favorite Rock bands are Yellowcard, Hoobastank, The Killers, Guerrillas, Gym Class Heroes, Panic! At the Disco, and Linkin Park.
I like off-the-wall-stuff-no-one's-ever-heard-of type movies or movies that people think are sappy such as Uncorked, Gun Shy, Sliding Doors, The Saint, Great Expectations, Shakespeare in Love, Elizabeth, A Knight's Tale, Sunshine, The English Patient, Chocolat, House of D, Stage Beauty, 10 Things I Hate About You, The Princess Bride, Romeo & Juliet, Practical Magic & The Talented Mr. Ripley. I also like all of the Dreamworks and Pixar animated movies, especially Finding Nemo. I also love classic action movies like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Gladiator, Fight Club, The Game, etc. Most people wouldn't know that I love the epic Asian movies like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, House of Flying Daggers, and Hero.
I like a lot of television shows. My core shows right now are Lost, Grey's Anatomy, HEROES!, House, My Name is Earl, South Park, American Idol, America's Next Top Model, Project Runway, Top Chef, and Big Brother in the summers. I also used to love to watch Friends, Will and Grace, and Sex and the City but they're off the air now.
Owing to the fact that I'm going to be a high school English teacher soon, I love the classics such as John Steinbeck, Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, William Faulkner, etc. I also enjoy fantasy works like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia, and the trilogy by Philip Pullman. Some of my all-time favorite books include The Thorn Birds, 1984, Lord of the Flies, and many others. You might call me a bibliophile because I love books, collect them, and will read just about anything you put in front of me.
I've recently discovered that in every show I watch, my favorite characters are the "lovable saps". For instance, my favorite Hero is Hiro Nakamura (and his side-kick Ando). In my other shows I like Butters, Crabman (from My Name is Earl), Hurley & Charlie (from Lost), and George (from Grey's Anatomy). What does that say about me? hehe
