My goal this year is to be known as Jazsmin, not as Ice Cubes wife from the Barbershop movies. It's become my name, "hey, aren't you Ice Cubes wife from the Barbershop movies". I love the love but I need a name
Create Your Own! JAZSMIN LEWISA mainstay in the world of Film and Television, she’s been featured on practically every noteworthy sitcom and drama that’s come and gone in her nine year career. For her tireless efforts, she was recognized early and often, landing roles in big budget studio films and independent ones alike, amassing an impressive sixteen silver screen successes to her credit. A self made business woman, she is in fact the beauty and brains behind her own production company, easily making her one of Tinsletown’s most valuable players. Without fear or favor this Cleveland born bombshell had done it her way.Interestingly enough, Jazsmin didn’t dream of becoming an actor as a little girl. Prompted by her father to learn to read and write music at a very young age, she fell in love with the craft, reserving her acting skills for school and church plays. As a product of a interracial couple (Caucasian mother and African American father) Jazsmin felt like music was a way to be excepted by everyone. Amazingly, at three years old Lewis conquered the piano, at eleven the bass guitar and twelve the drums. As a consequence, her trek to stardom began before her first day of elementary school.Already a success as a singer and musician by age fifteen, and after having toured and a singer and bass player with the likes of Roger Troutman and Zapp, Gladys Knight, George Clinton, The Ohio Players and a host of others. By Age Twenty, Lewis was fed up with the road and missing her family. That same year, she decided to move forward with her first love. Within days of deciding to pursue acting, she landed her first job from her first audition. The hit sitcom “Martin” was in it’s last season and Jazsmin was able to get her feet wet with the veteran of the television world. Lewis’s splash was especially significant, as she was bombarded with requests to guest star weekly on nearly every African American sitcom (“In the House”, Family Matters”, “Sparks”, “The Wayans Bros.”, etc.) in the know over the next two months. The streak continued at an alarming rate, climaxing when she was called for her first feature film -“How to be a Player”. Simultaneously landing her first series regular role on the UPN sitcom Good News as the loveable Venita Stansbury. All within the first year she was in the business. Lewis quickly wanted to expand her experience to dramas quickly landing roles on prominent episodic the likes of “Baywatch nights”, and “Martial Law”, finally landing on the critically acclaimed ABC hit “Line Of Fire. In 2002 a casting director took notice, and requested the she play alongside Ice Cube as his wife - Jennifer Palmer in a career defining film “Barbershop”. Soon after “Barbershop” earned record breaking numbers for an Urban Film the sequel was in the works as all of it’s stars quickly signed on to do it again. “Fortunately I was never out of work,” says the former Coors Light spokesmodel. “I never had what actors call that “dry Spell”, which is great. But it’s kind of strange, because we all know it’s coming. Everyone has it. It’s just how you handle yourself when it happens.” Lewis is doing her part to make sure her good fortune doesn’t change anytime soon. Since playing Mrs. Palmer once more in “Barbershop 2", she landed recurring roles on “Eve” (2004- present) and “All of Us” (2005-Present), as well as sorted appearances .. sitcoms “Half and Half”, films like “Deliver Us From Eva” and Mario Van Pebbles film about the life of his father (Badd Ass). Most recently Lewis has been busier than ever wrapping on the films :”Wifey” starring her “Eve” co-star Brian Hooks, “Traci Townsend” in which Lewis Plays the title character Traci Townsend, “Flip the Script” (Miguel Nunez, Robin Givens, Mel Jackson) and the very controversial film “One Bad Habit”, Teaming up again with director Preston Whitmore, (where she plays a drug addicted, Lesbian, hit woman) whom she did a film with in 2005 “Doing Hard Time” sharing the screen with Boris Kodjoe. With several films in the works through her own production company Feline Entertainment, Lewis is doing more than just accepting her role and playing the part. She’s defining it and making it her own.found this fashion layout at HOT FreeLayouts.com :: MyHotComments
