Iver

There are two theories to arguing with women. Neither one works.

About Me

I started playing guitar in 1978, mostly rock, metal and instrumental rock through the 80s, then crossed over into jazz in the 90s. I taught, performed and ran a music store until I was 30. Then, shortly after 9/11 I joined the Navy. I wanted to try something new for a change, serve my country, have an adventure, travel, see the world. I served on the USS Miami (SSN 755) for almost 3 years, serving a total of five years in the submarine force. I finished my tour of duty last January, and now I work in the semiconductor indurstry. I will still do music, but not full time like I used to. Aside from music, food is also one of my passions. I believe that in life, for you to be good at something, you must have passion for it. I can spend entire days in the kitchen getting creative.--

My Interests

I love to read, mostly classic literature, the stuff I was supposed to read in high school, that seemed like such a waste of time. Turns out the stuff is pretty good. In the summer and fall I get out on the road with my motorcycle, Suzuki VS800. Love to go camping, fishing, being outside. I spent the last 3 summers hundreds of feet below the ocean in a steel tube with 150 other guys. This year I will have to hit the beach. I am a huge fan of wine, and currently reading several different books on wine. Beer is also a favorite comfort food. ------Free Myspace Pictures

Music:

When I was very young, I was brought up on classical music and jazz standards. Then, in my teens, I was into 80s hardrock and metal. Around the time grunge hit, I was redeveloping my interests in jazz. As a guitar player, I enjoyed the challenge that jazz and classical guitar offered. I am definately a jazz guitarist, but you can still hear the roots of an old rock player in my music. Some of my favorites: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Mingus, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Russel Malone, John Pizzarelli, Mike Stern, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Dream Theater and the list goes on and on....
lyrics - Henry Mancini Lyrics

Movies:

Forest Gump, American Beauty, Godfather, Sideways, Breakfast At Tiffany's, Dr. Zhivago, Casablanca, Gone With the Wind, Lawrence of Arabia, Saving Private Ryan, Big Fish, Chocolat

Television:

Bones (This is totaly better than any version of CSI) Food Network, Simpsons, Family Guy, CNN
You Are A Martini
You are the kind of drinker who appreciates a nice hard drink.
And for you, only quality alcohol. You don't waste your time on the cheap stuff.
Obviously, you're usually found with a martini in your hand. But sometimes you mix it up with a gin and tonic.
And you'd never, ever consider one of those flavored martinis. They're hardly a drink! What Alcoholic Drink Are You?

Books:

The Count of Monte Cristo - Dumas, Sauces - Mark Peterson, Windows On the World Complete Wine Course - Zraly, Scotland the Story of a Nation - Magnus Magnusson, East of Eden - Steinbeck ---currently reading Les Miserables - Victor Hugo. I have somewhere between 400-500 books in my collection.center
