We are Stand Firm, based out of Erie, PA. In this day and age the world is less than a pleasant place and very far from perfect. Hatred has poisoned the minds of nearly every culture living today. Intolerance is a leading motive behind numerous hate crimes. What is so wrong with being your own person and escaping from the mold that many people have been living in for far too long? If you can’t live alongside other humans because someone else may have a different viewpoint than yours, how can you think you deserve the freedom you supposedly fight for and deserve? Is that other human not entitled to the same freedom? Perhaps in the 1600's it was customary to burn the individuals who were believed to be evil. In modern society you cannot burn everything you see simply because you’re scared of it or you don’t understand it. Though it can be hard, it is possible to respect someone without agreeing with them. We’ve been given so much freedom, yet some still believe that one single mindset will prosper. There will never be one religion, one belief, one political party. We are not in a land run by communism or dictators. Atleast not in our country. Some are less fortunate and have less freedoms. We need to stop taking for granted everything we have, especially our freedom of diversity, or the ground we stand on will disappear before our eyes. We were once referred to as the Great American Melting Pot... We, Stand Firm, are proud of this and therefore proud to be American and although we are a straight edge band, we in no way try to ignore issues at hand, especially not the issues that can and will effect us now or in the near future. Therefore we challenge everyone to think for themselves and at the same time respect one another, and their freedom of thought and choice. Perhaps in the longrun we will be able to contribute something beneficial to this country, and this world in which we live. Perhaps our efforts will not be in vain, and in the end this world will be a beautiful and pleasant place once again, because so far at the rate it's going, it would truly be better off going up in flames
