And by the way good friends, don't feel offended that you're not listed in my top 8. I object to the high school mentality of the top 8 (or 12 or 16 or whatever the fuck people have programmed at any given time) so much that I would just rather list bands, artists, etc that I feel like promoting at any given time. But don't worry, I still love you! Muuuah!
I couldn't possible list every single individual act I respect, but my favorite genres are country (mainly older stuff), metal, hip-hop, Sun records, rockabilly, Doo-wop, delta blues, old Chicago blues, classic industrial, wax-trax!, Chicago house music... I think every genre has something good to offer but generally only 5% of any genre is worth listening to.
Maya Deren's "Meshes of the Afternoon" is one of my all time favorite shorts. The Brothers Quay are fucking amazing! And David Lynch is da man! Other directors I admire are Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese, Fellini, Sam Raimi before he sold out completely, George Romero, Dario Argento, Robert Rodriguez, Tarentino, Sam Peckinpah, Jodorowsky, and others I can't think of. I really love character actors like Harry Dean Stanton, Steve Buschemi, Samuel L. Jackson and Gary Oldman. My favorite leading ladies include Nicole Kidman, Audrey Hepburn, Laura Dern, and Lauren Bacall.
