NEED NEW AVITAR!!!

About Me

Myspace Layouts Had the most amazing time in Portland! I'll update this space later, so busy... To employers: My gosh, if you're really using this to "check up" on me, get real. You wanna believe all the stuff people write on myspace? Puh-leeze!!! Okay, now that I've gotten that out of my system, let's have some fun... This "myspace" is more or less my goof-off place. Onward. I practically grew up at Skate Country - so many good childhood memories. I first skated at Crystal Canyon Skating Palace, a worn out old rink complete with wooden floor and it was there that I fell in love with dance skating. Imagine what kind of kid likes organ music! Later I did compete in American Roller Dance and figures, including the first National Junior Olympics. That's junior, not special!!! My latest skating venture was refereeing for Tucson Roller Derby during their 2006 season. I have performed locally with Flor de Liz Dance (ballet) as well as other ballet, jazz, modern and tap here and there. I also had a wonderful opportunity to perform with Flam Chen along with other members of Tucson Roller Derby and spin fire on skates at the closing ceremony for El Tour de Tucson in November of 2005.

My Interests

Artists Hieronymus Bosch, Escher, and Salvador Dali, Art Deco, 60' architecture, 70's kitsch, 80's video games. Dance and roller skating too!

I'd like to meet:

So I finally went to a listener party but laid kinda low. I've been crazy busy and stressed for months and just enjoyed hanging out and crowd watching but did get to meet Rick Emerson, Sarah X Dylan and others. I'm gonna return, hopefully in a more energetic state! Oh, and I'd like to meet Weird Al Yankovic, if only to shake his hand and tell him he's great.

Music:

Love me some hair rock. A heavy metal addict, but also dig th' old school funk and even some 70's disco. I guess I like it for the cheese factor. Mmm... cheese....

Movies:

Favorite movie of all time: Car Wash. Fav chick flick to watch when I'm home with the flu/cold: Desperately Seeking Susan. Mostly I'm drawn to comedies. Never seen E.T., never will. Thought that was worth mentioning... Oh and whenever All That Jazz is on I have to watch it!

Television:

I really don't watch much television. Oh, I used to watch way too much years ago. Loved WKRP, Bosom Buddies, Match Game, Fame, The Muppet Show, etc., etc. Ah, such drek! The local station, KZAZ, had the best re-runs when I was little! The original Star Trek is still a personal favorite. The Adams Family and The Brady Bunch were my baby sitters after school. Nowadays I'm pretty busy, but have enjoyed So You Think You Can Dance and Rockstar Supernova. Storm Large is awesome!

Books:

Uhh, does Mad Magazine count?

Heroes:

Hogan's! Wait, this isn't word association...

My Blog

Nanette is dead.

No No Nanette has retired from roller derby!  It has been a unique experience for her but it is time for Nanette to take on new advenures in life.  May she rest in peace.  Don't be...
