The correct way to pronounce So Roka is "So-Row-Kuh".
So Roka Productions not only is a play on words by the owner Ryan Soroka, but also a production company based out of north New Jersey. So Roka Productions hosts DIY (do it yourself) shows in various vfw and firehalls in Essex County, NJ. Booking all different types of genre's from ska to rock to acoustic folk to hardcore, So Roka Productions has touched upon many different NJ scenes. Established in late 2004, So Roka Productions has booked bands such as: Suburban Legends, All Time Low (Hopeless Records), The Dangerous Summer (Hopeless Records), You Me & Everyone We Know, Amber Pacific (Hopeless Records), Adelphi (Drive-Thru Records), MC Lars (Horris Records), Patent Pending (We Put Out Records), Cash Cash (Universal Records), Bombtown (Megalith Records), The Flaming Tsunamis, Hollywood Ave (Inner Voice Records), Lux Corageous, Tourmaline (No Milk Records), The Composure(featuring Paul Menotiades of Punchline), Hometown Anthem (Emerald Moon Records), Bomb the Music Industry! (Asian Man Records), and many many more. So Roka Productions is this day and age's attempt to keep prices for shows down. When coming to a So Roka Productions show, we want to see you as people, not just a crisp stack of 10 dollar bills. It's just one of the many things that So Roka Productions is trying to keep the NJ scenes thriving and strong. Also, So Roka Productions tends to hold shows with themes, such as formals, where if you wear formal attire, you get a discount on admission. So Roka Productions just tries to make shows a little more interesting to go to in a fans point of view and in a bands point of view.
So Roka Productions is a one-man project, run by Ryan Soroka. Despite a few joint production shows, So Roka Productions normally does not like to book and promote shows with other production companies.
So Roka Productions does band management for the Dangerous Summer (Hopeless Records).
So Roka Productions is charity-friendly as So Roka Productions has had shows for the Hurricane Katrina Relief, as well, at all So Roka Productions shows, there is a donation box for the Ryan Dallas Cook Fund. The Ryan Dallas Cook fund is a fund that was set up in memory of the late tromboner of the ska band, Suburban Legends. All the money goes to the marching band that he belonged to when he was in high school. For more information go to www.suburbanlegends.com (not www.So Roka Productions.tk). And most importantly, So Roka Productions is a large supporter of donating funds and having benefit concerts for breast cancer.
So like I said before, So Roka Productions is like woah DIY. Infact, word is that So Roka Productions is so DIY that instead of using a PA system, So Roka Productions insists on screaming what the singer is saying 10x louder than he's saying it (not really, but that would be cool).
So Roka Productions not only books/promotes/hosts shows, but So Roka Productions also creates websites for anything from bands to production companies to anything that you could think of that is in need of a website. Also, So Roka Productions is up for helping bands with .. promotional services by making buddy icons, banners, flyers, and more.
So Roka Productions also books tours and out of state shows for bands. As a matter of fact, So Roka Productions has booked tours/out-of-state shows for: The Dangerous Summer (Hopeless Records), The Years Gone By (Rise Records), Socratic (Drive-Thru Records), Jet Lag Gemini (Doghouse Records), Lady Radiator (Emerald Moon Records), The Morning Light (Fearless Records), Red Light Green Light, The Exotic Aquatic (Howland Circle Records), Hollywood Ave (Inner Voice Records), The Less, The Bronze Episode (Eyeball Records), Moraine, The Bleeding Alarm (Immortal Records), The Morning Of, The Spotlight (Emerald Moon Records), My Getaway, Holiday Parade, 2*Sweet, A Letter To You, This Time Next Year (Run For Cover Records), Pictures In Pieces, Capitol Risk, and That Was Something (Oort Records).
If you see a kid handing out flyers with So Roka Productions on it, you are absolutely required to start an in-depth conversation about all things So Roka Productions and not So Roka Productions.
The only song that keeps So Roka Productions going in life is "Arrogant Sons Of Bitches - So Let's Go Nowhere". So Roka Productions lives for the type of vibe that is only found at a Westbound Train show in New Jersey.
So Roka Productions highly recommends that YOU tell US who you would like to see play here in north New Jersey. Please post a response on the blog listed "REQUEST A BAND" above.
It makes it easier for So Roka Productions to know what is in and who the crowd, every individual member of it, will like to see in the near future.
