“Imagine a city where graffiti wasn't illegal, a city where
everybody could draw whatever they like. Where every street was
awash with a million colours and little phrases. Where standing
at a bus stop was never boring. A city that felt like a living
breathing thing which belonged to everybody, not just the estate
agents and barons of big business. Imagine a city like this and
stop leaning against that wall - it's wet.†New England Bombing Arts

Nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to truth, from truth to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage." "Gotta have more cowbell!!"
Very eclectic-everything but country music (closest I get is Chet Atkins, Les Paul or Michelle Shocked); grew up on top-40's stuff, grew into the era of 60's music, pop festivals etc.,ala California-style; threw up and moshed my way through early punk and the successive new-wave of the late 70's..80's; discovered I loved jazz and classical music along the way, by way of plays, performance art, and opera. Now find myself
listening to some of everything, although my favs tend to come out of the east coast angst.. Velvet Underground, John Cale, Lou Reed, Nico, Dylan era, with the subsequent british invasionreggaepunknew wave trend..Clash, Talking Heads, Blondie, Patti Smith, Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music, Bowie and Eno, later... Ramones, as well as that influenced by the aforementioned and morphed into the west coast takeover..X, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Nina Hagen, Joan Jett, Circle Jerks, Dolphin,etc.,etc., I'm still discovering the vastness of hip-hop. I have always been into Quincy Jones,..Man, I love him.."Back on the Block" was kind of an eye-opener for me, as far as hip-hop; I can always listen to Aaron Copeland, esp. "Appalachian Spring"...speaking of Copelands, Stewart Copeland (The Police AND his movie soundtracks) I love soundtracks, because there is such diversity..I discover so much music that way, because the ocean of music is so big, you just miss so much. I re-discovered Mark Mothersbaugh that way, with The Royal Tenenbaums and of course, Life Aquatic. More recent finds...the tribal-like music on Battlestar Galactica is amazing!; The eclectic music on "Weeds" is creative and hearing many artists cover the same song, "Little Boxes", by Malvina Reynolds, an activist songwriter, musician of her day would, I'm sure, amuse and delight her as much as it does me...I love Indian/Hindu music, Mahavishnu Light Orchestra, John McLaughlin, Dengue Fever and French Salon, Rap-Passi, MC Solaar;
I absolutely LOVE & bask in the amazing music of Japanese R/B,Hip-hop~Kazenohito~ I like music with streams through time, styles, and contrasts, be it Pink Martini, Yoyo Ma/Bobby McFerrin, Tony Bennett/K.D.Lang or Christina Aguilera? or Malcolm Maclaren/Opera, classical music...what he called "vogueing"... punk version of "Somewhere over the Rainbow"...anyone?! Music to my ears?, during these dark, often dank daZZe of Oregon winters..."Don't Worry, Be Happy!) I know, I know, but it just makes me smile and I love it!...not to worry, as I can "Freak Out" with Frank Zappa, or be "The Perfect Stranger"/Boulez conducts Zappa with the Ensemble InterContemporian/London Symphony, or?..take flight with "Music for Airports" into "Another Green World"/Brian Eno, or?..swoon with Frank Sinatra, and I can really schitz-out with Frippertonic "You Burn Me Up, I'm a Cigarette"/Robert Fripp, as sung by Darryl Hall on their collaboration, "Exposure"..uh,huh-yeah, THAT Darry Hall, who is amazing in his own right...check out "Sacred Songs" some time!, Sting, of course, in his many incarnations, Paul Simon-ditto on the incarnations, Nina Simone, Laurie Anderson, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, David Crosby's,"....if I Could Only Remember My Name", takes me to ethereal places!, Siouxie and the Banshees-the best cover EVER of "Prudence", Tom Waits, Rickie Lee Jones, The Killers, The Pixies, The Pogues, Coldplay, Donnas, REM, Nirvana, U2, Laura Nyro, King Crimson (saw Adrian Belew a few weeks ago @ the McDonald-great new (brother/sister back-up) band;) John Lennon/Yoko Ono, George Harrison, some of Paul's, early Kinks, Brian Wilson, Eminem, LudriKris, Indigo Girls, Gwen Stefani, The Ovulators...oh, I could go on foreverandforeverandforever...and, will probably be updating this as they come to me! Suffice, to end by saying..Today, I listened to Talking Book/Stevie Wonder, Mozart Sessions/ Chick Correa & Bobby McFerrin, Waltz Darling/Malcolm McClaren & Bootzilla Orchestra, and Musak Blondie/Call Me @ T-Mobile...yikes!, talk about ECLECTIC! Right now, I'm listening to a buzz in my head and my cat, Pyewacket, yelling @ me for ignoring him{;#o....Meeoowwaahhhhh!, definitely not music to my ears....

YIKES! Where to start or finish?.....So, until I do, enjoy these visual meanderings....I really do read books, really! I love books, I love reading books, although sometimes they are books that have pictures.... beautiful pictures or sexy pictures or pictures of art or pictures of....well, everything! Please don't "read" anything into these words;o....hmmm, truth is, the last week or so, since I got my laptop, I haven't read much of anything, except instruction manuals, MacHelp, myspace, google, and e-mails...oh, wait, I did finish 2 books, so I guess that counts as 1...Age of Infallibility/ George Soros, and Lisey's Story/ Stephen King, which I kept putting off finishing, because I didn't want it to end!..AND, I AM always reading a Japanese language book of some kind or another.
