About Me
For once, I will say exactly who I am. Here's the basics.
* I am a son, a brother, a brother in law, a nephew, a grandson, a cousin, and an uncle.
* I am a friend to many, a best friend to a few, an acquaintance to most, and even an enemy to some.
* For my friends and loved ones I am a listening ear and thoughtful mind when asked, a walking hug when desired, a warrior and indestructible backup when needed, and a supporter and confidant always.
* I am the proud owner and operator of a charity which can be located at www.myspace.com/TabsForLife
* I am slightly anal retentive about a few certain and utterly random things (my own cleanliness, toilet seats being down, cupboard doors being closed, microwave displays being cleared, etc).
* I am a sports participant on every level. I play softball in summer leagues and I shoot hoops in my driveway. In the snow. Depending on your definition of "sport", I also play golf (badly), play chess, play poker, and bowl. I love ESPN and SportsCenter. I live for live sporting events, especially professional games. I read sports books, talk sports with friends, and am in a fantasy baseball league. Or three. I've worked at coaching sports on four different levels. I love sports.
* I'm a narcoleptic insomniac... I sleep sparingly but at the oddest times possible. And the oddest locations for that matter. I have slept behind the wheel of my mighty Buick, in a subway station in NYC, in a Hilton in Washington D.C., on Kacey Snyder's trampoline, beside the St. Regis River, in the Adirondack Mountains, on a lawn in Vermont, on a hotel balcony in Virginia, in "the stairway to nowhere" (RIP) at Suny Potsdam, in all five dorms at SUNY Potsdam, on the roof of a chicken coop, in a tiny closest in NYC, on Kristal Fletcher's floor (trust me, it was odd), in my high school locker room's shower, in nearly every class I ever took in college, and just about any place sleep is possible.
* I am a writer, "grammar nazi", and poor speller. Lately I try to write for causes more than just to get my own feelings out. My feelings are out. I'm virtually done that part of my life. My loved ones know who I am and how I feel, and if anyone doesn't already know and wants to, I have writings saved. Besides, who I am is not that hard to figure out anymore.
* I'm a comedian and a fan of virtually everything funny. I once heard my brother say "Funny trumps all." and I believe that, have ever since. I love making friends smile and laugh. If I can make someone's day with a great laugh, it makes my day.
* Speaking of which, I'm a half ass younger version of my older brother. I hope.
* I'm a fan; of The Atlanta Braves and The Boston Red Sox; of Scottie Pippen and of the next wave Jamario Moon and Stephen Curry; of NYS red wine and cheap champagne; of Comedians Bill Hicks, Mitch Hedburg, Andy Kauffman, and dozens of others; of TV shows like Lost, Sports Night, Scrubs, Heroes, House, and tons of others; of Film writers and actors like Kevin Smith, Aaron Sorkin, Samuel L. Jackson, Robin Williams, and Kevin Spacey; of Writers such as Mick Foley, Ben Mezrich, Bill Watterson, Michael Crichton, Edgar Allen Poe, Jack Handy, Shel Silverstein, and Darby Conley; of Musicians Ben Folds, Metallica, The Beatles, Jack's Mannequin, and countless other musicians; of poker geniuses Doyle Brunson, T.J. Cloutier, Jennifer Harmon, Allen Cunningham, Daniel Negreanu, Dan Harrington, Greg Raymer, and Amarillo Slim; and most importantly, of my friends and loved ones.
* I'm an American, and proud of it. I respect those who fight for the advancement and protection of this country whether it be through military, political, or intelligent means.
* I'm a believer in a higher power, a God. I was raised Roman Catholic but I have recently begun trying to learn as much about other religions as possible. Christians, Mormons, Buddhism, and many more religions have good messages and teachings, and I think that is what religion and faith SHOULD be about, not getting the largest cult like following or thinking poorly of others because they believe in things you don't.
* As pretentious as it may sound, I am an intellectual, a teacher, and a fountain of often times useless knowledge. I believe misinformation and ignorance are harmful to society and I want to educate everyone I can on issues that I feel are important. I want people to know the truth about electric cars, American History and who was actually our first president, the 75% bullshit that is the typical view of global warming, the mistranslations in The Holy Bible, the ridiculousness that is the concept of a "gas-out", the foolishness of "Tom is shutting down myspace/deleting users unless you ______" when it is a multi million dollar business which is no longer even owned by Mr. Anderson, and many other common misconceptions and harebrained ideas.
Any questions?
