It's only rock and roll?
The Palominos have recently driven a team of horses through Liverpool’s music scene, trampling its more whimsical notions of 'alt.country'. Their shows produce a uniquely visceral brand of British Rock n’ Soul, burned through a Californian heat-haze, tempered here and there by gentle Burritoesque country. An insistence on pointing out debts to Led Zeppelin, the Stones and BigStar aside, their combination of tabernacle gospel voice, s heavy–duty rhythm section and Page-like riffing may nod to classic 1970’s Rock, but really only sounds like The Palominos.
