About Me

Growing up during Reaganomics (The 1980's), when creativity flourished in Hip-hop (under the pseudonym of Sam’s sun taken in honor of his deceased father Minister Samuel Robinson Sr.) this featured emcee learned to love his culture and respect the struggles of his ancestors. In New York, he spent years honing his craft recording a multitude of promotional material for underground radio, in and out of groups, and putting out independent material. Throughout his career he has shared the stage with a host of artists (such as The Cold Krush Brothers, the Krash Krew, the Furious Five, Rodney C. and K.K. Rockwell, De la Soul, Redman, Keith Murray, Common, O.C., Organized Konfusion, and others). Samssun’s current project is entitled Community Service. Community Service was created for the sole purpose of giving the poor and middle class so-called minority a voice accompanied by the motivation and positive reinforcement they so richly deserve. It is simply Underground GROWN FOLKS MUSIC with no objective of commercialism, void of vulgarity and/or the degradation of women, coming to you from the perception of a male of African ancestry in his thirties boldly defying the belittling grip of Europeanism and the music industries current gravitation toward the negative stereotype of having a brown complexion, in hopes to provide a service to the urban community. The Community Service Project features production from Samssun, Renowned Bassist Darren Quinlan, DJ AyCE International, Maniack aka Paul Garrod, Ralo, the vocals of Darlene Deloney, J.D. Lawrence, Janet D., Amén, Mahogany, Jahlani, Leon Gellineau, and more. (Release date TBA) All rights reserved. Manufactured and Distributed in the United States.
