BiographyIt all began in 1975 in Harlem, New York City. One lovely lady gave birth to the kid you may know as . . . . . .DJ COOL KEV!Ever since he was a young man, DJ COOL KEV has been into music. In 1980, his mother purchased his first radio/tape recorder, and the rest is history. Three of his major musical influences have been his uncles Stanley Scipio (RIP), Bobby Bowens (Blues singer) and the world renowned DJ Scipio. DJ Scipio has been "dj-ing" since back in the mid-70's and COOL KEV and his cousin used to break DJ Scipio's needles trying to learn the art.In 1986, Cool Kev's mom passed away and at the tender age of 11, he was at the crossroads of life. During his teenage years in South Carolina, there a few negative routes he could have taken, but thankfully he stayed on the right track. In 1988, COOL KEV (then known as COOL K), was a rapper/graffiti artist. DJ COOL Kev and his crew rocked many talent shows, crew rap battles.In 1989, DJ COOL KEV started "dj-ing" and purchasing equipment. After graduating from high school, he attended The Institute of Audio Research, learning audio engineering and production. He went on to intern at a studio for a year and then his son was born. The time came to take took on grown man responsibilities. TIME TO GET THAT PAPER!!!In 1995 DJ COOL KEV mixtape career began. Back when there were no mix CDs; only tapes. Presently DJ COOL KEV is known as the "R&B Mixtape King" and "The Total Package." Having more than 61 volumes of R&B mixtapes, and more tham 200 mixtapes total, he's serious about pleasing the ladies and the mature audience. This DJ is unique, consistent, versatile and multi-talented.The meaning behind The Total Package is being consistent in every major mixtape category, which is R&B, Hip Hop, Slow Jams, Reggae, Party CDs, the "Lil' Cool Kev" series and more. "Lil' Cool Kev" does mix CDs for the kids that contain no cursing. He's been on the CDs since the Half on a Baby series in '97, if you follow me.DJ Cool Kev has worked with numerous artists and producers, such a DJ Red Alert, Fat Man Scoop (New York's Hot 97), Lil' Flip, Glenn Lewis, Lil' Vicious, Jason Weaver, Dame Grease, Cee-Lo of the Goodie Mob, McGruff and Mic Vandalz, to name a few. Also, spinning in numerous amounts of clubs, COOL KEV has made many contacts and has a lot in store for the future. Music production is the works (very soon), so keep your eye out! Ownership, real estate, acres of land and plenty of happiness and music is what's in store for your boy.
