I like all kinds of music from Erykah Badu to Nas to Bob Marley to Patti Labelle. I like neo-soul, hiphop, reggae, jazz and old school. Any artist that is putting out music that isnt talking about killing each other, disrespecting women, or selling the drugs that are eating at the foundation of our society gets much respect since those are the types of songs that are the easiest to market for record labels.
I like so many types of movies but I guess there are a few I could watch continuously. I like "Higher Learning" because the messages in the movie really hit home with me the first time I saw it. I like "The Color Purple" because the way that Cely (Whoopi's character) stood up to Mister (Danny Glover) at the end was very inspiring to me, showing me that everyone has their limit and when it is reached, explosions can occur and lives can change. I like the movie "Crash" because it shows the EVERYONE has stereotypes and no one race is protected from negativity. I like the movies "Fighting Temptations" and "Sister Act II" because I am a touch corny and like any movie where the people sing and/or dance. Oh and I like the movie "True Lies" with the Governator because it is action packed, shows Arnold in true form and (this is the weirdest reason) because the title is an oxymoron lol.
I watch a lot of television. In fact at almost any time of the day you can catch me either watching TV, reading a book or watching TV WHILE reading a book (an instance that confuses many of my friends....how can you watch TV and read a book at the same time? I dont know how...I guess I like to be over stimulated lol). I watch alot of reality shows though, like "American Idol", "America's Next Top Model", "Top Chef" and "Amazing Race". I like the fact that the people on these shows are real. They are not acting out any script except the one that goes through their minds a split second before they actually do it :-).
I like to read anything that is well written, no ghetto, urban novels that take little to no thought to write or to read. I like to read classics that still hold relevant in today's society, like "From 'Superman to Man' " by J. A. Rogers ( a friend turned me on to this book :-) )
