Welcome to Bumpy's World...Growing up in NY's gun infested borough of Brooklyn ("Marlboro to Coney homie"). Bumpy Johnson (Zakariyya Amin or just Zak), the eldest of four siblings ("I have three sisters") grew up in the 80's when the streets of New York was basically in a turmoil of drugs, guns, hustle crews, ("ha, before Gulliani took out the mafia homie"). Jumping into the game himself at the age 12 ("more like 12 and a half going on 13"), Bumpy would cut school to hustle in his building with a fellow schoolmate. But this didn't last to long due to the fact the school would call home everytime Bumpy was absent ("Yo I came home oneday and G-ma was at the door waiting on the kid, haha"). What happend next, Bumpy's grandmother (Aisha Amin) and grandfather (Abdullah Amin) decided to move out of the projects to offer there grandson a better life and to try and keep him from the trouble that plague the streets.
Moving to the Coney Island section of Brooklyn, it didn't take long for Bumpy to run into more trouble, ("I went to school with a lot of the kids already, so I was already in the know, dig?"). But he was still in a new part of town and needed a new crew to allign himself with. But with this new crew came a whole new stem of beefs ("Real talk homie i was never in beef until i moved to Coney, but im a loyal nikka, anyone in my crew wit beef we all got beef, dig!"). Morelesswhat ever beef came their way was handled with and it wasn't too many altercations they couldn't handle. One altercation ("I can't speek on that"), helped solidify the name Bumpy Johnson, ("I had the name since like late '96', the altercation happend like in '97', and on top of that the damn movie was coming out"). With all these factors the name just stuck with him. ("At that time there was no Bumpy's that i knew of except the homie Bumpy Knuckles[Freddy Foxx]").In comes the rap season ("Yo i wrote my first ryhme in 90' i still remember it to this day"), but dealing with what he was dealing with he didn't decide to do music until 95' when he came back home from Mass. ("Me and the homies would record on the lil record/tape player radio i had in the brib"). In 96' him and his lil cousin Prano (James Rice) formed a group ("We was the Luchi I Faces") and was recording at DLS studio in the Farraguat housing projects downtown Brooklyn. DLS, a producer made beats and recorded them for about a year. Eager to get his groups songs laid down quicker Bumpy took it apon himself to get his own studio
("dog i worked and hustled my ass off to get that equipment"). Making his first beat in 97', Bumpy grew a love for producing while only making beat for himself he quickly grew and started to make beats for the crew.("The homies wasn't feeling my beats at first and thats Real, I feel i was a lil head of my time 'cause I was making beats from scratch, no samples no nothing just straight instrumentation. But once things got on par, well you see it, its the R").In 2006 look for Bumpy to continue his lagacy, Beats & Rhymes. A new international star is on ourhands and he's not taking no shorts in any situation. Multi-talented, Bumpy Johnson will walk all the way to the bank and back with his vast knowledge of the music industry ("I studied homie"), coupled with that street edge not to many rappers have today. On the production side Bumpy's got it on smash over seeing all projects done on the Real Records roster, not to mention recording and mixing for other artist such as M.I.E.R.S Fam, Smith Boys, Xclusiv, to Big Business and Ti'Jean, it seems like there's nothing this hustler cant do."; I edited my profile at Freeweblayouts.net , check out these Myspace Layouts!
