About Me

Hmmmm...I have to admit that there's just not a lot about me that's interesting. I'm a stay-at-home-mom who also substitute teaches and tutors. In a past life, I was a high school English teacher, a youth specialist, an employment counselor for a state welfare program, a supermarket cashier, and whatever dead-end high school/college kind of job you can think of. Someday I might teach full-time again, but for now I'm just raising my own kids instead of someone else's.
You're 85% Irish
Congratulations, you're a shining example of an Irish lass (or lad).
There's hardly anyone more Irish than you! How Irish Are You?

My Interests

My kids and the things that go along with keeping them happy, healthy, and alive. My friends, reading, t.v. (I admit it--I'm an addict)--especially reality t.v..

I'd like to meet:

Wow! I never realized what a difficult question this is. Had you asked me in junior high or high school my answers would have been something like Rob Lowe, C. Thomas Howell (remember him???), John Cusack, and Molly Ringwald. As for my adult self, I'll have to get back to you.

Music:

Elton John, BNL, Sarah McLachlan, Tracy Chapman, Train, Ben Taylor (and his parents), Madonna--of the '80s & '90's, Van Morrison, Shawn Colvin...you get the idea.

Television:

My name is Moira, and I am a t.v.aholic.

Books:

O.K., this is a lot of pressure for me--I know you're thinking that I must have some great book suggestions since I'm an English teacher. Here's the thing...I like a good ol'trashy novel as much as the next illiterate, so don't expect a list of "smart" books. My all time favorite novel is The Great Gatsby. I also love everything that Jennifer Weiner has written, I just discovered Jodi Picoult (Vanishing Acts), and I cannot forget to mention Laurie Notaro--she is hysterical!!! I am an Idiot Girl!!!Last year I started a book club with my three closest friends and we've read some really good stuff. Some of my faves have been Memoirs of a Geisha, The Kite Runner, Rebecca, Angela's Ashes, The Red Tent, and The Godfather. Oh, and I can't forget to add Angry Housewives Eating Bon-Bons which was my inspiration for my book club! And just so you know, I am really bothered by the fact that I can't seem to underline my titles here!!! :P
