My name is Kimberly Bauer, but you can call me Kim. I'm 21 years old have a stepdaughter named Angela. She's actually my boyfriend's daughter, but same difference! My father, Jack, has worked for the government my whole life. When I was 16, terrorists kidnapped my mother and me to use us as leverage to force my dad to try to kill Senator David Palmer. He rescued us, of course, he likes being the hero!
Of course, the interagency espionage wasn't counted on, and my mother was killed at the very place that we thought she'd be safe at by the very person we thought she'd be safe with. She had been pregnant at the time. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have a little brother or sister. He or she would be a few years old now, it's weird to think about.
After her death, my father and I grew apart. Contrary to popular belief, I did not blame my dad for my mother's death. Just seeing him made me think of her, and it got to be too much. I accepted a job as a nanny for a little girl named Meghan.
Of course, with my luck, you'd know that Meghan's father was a psychomaniac child/wife abuser. When my dad told me to get out of L.A. because of the bomb, I refused to go without her. My then boyfriend Miguel helped me take her from the hospital that her dad had sent her to and we were able to escape. Things got bad when a police officer found a dead body in the trunk - it was Carla, Meghan's mom. Gary had killed her earlier that day. The police believed our story relatively quickly and Meghan's aunt took her to Santa Barbara, outside the blast range.
I was able to reconnect with my dad over the course of the day, especially when he volunteered to go down with the nuclear bomb. At the end of the day, when it was over, he had a heart attack but was fine. We grew much closer, maybe even closer than we were before Mom died.
He got me a job at CTU, and I worked there for about a year. During my time there I started dating Chase Edmunds, my dad's partner. When my dad found out, he didn't approve but he realized that I was happy with him. Eventaully I found out that he had a baby girl, and we agreed to step back from all of the stress of CTU and focus on raising her.
About a year ago I recieved word that my dad 'died', but he recently reemerged, having been in hiding from the Chinese Government. We haven't had much time together yet, but I'm so happy that we'll be able to reconnect. I was miserable after he 'died', so seeing him again has been like a miracle.
