____Nicholas "Nicky B" Bennett - Living on a small island makes one open and vulnerable. No large spaces to shield you from outside influences. No canyons to echo your sound. So you sing your songs to the wind. Nicholas Bennett is young talented and vulnerable. Coming from a musical family this teenaged island boy sings of sweetness and heartbreak. Being Jamaican his music mixes the mystic sensuality of reggae with the smooth foreplay like grooves of R&B and Jazz. He is a graduate of Kingston College, one of the leading high schools in Jamaica with a rich history and strong tradition in Jamaicas popular and classical music movements. Passionate about making great music Nicky B writes most of his material. He has written for Jamaican acts like Ghost and Elephant man and one of his songs was considered for an LL Cool J project. No stranger to the stage or the recording studio he has done backing vocals for several Jamaican recordings and has worked as back-up vocalist on stage. Nicky Bs featured performances include opening for Kanye West at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts and went on tour in Japan. He recently recorded a song with rapper Lil Zane entitled Twurk Dat, which will be the first single off the upcoming album entitled Under the Radar.
He has worked with his father, noted songwriter and producer Mikey Bennett as well as other Jamaican producers including Don Carleon, DJ Liquid, Cool face, Tony Kelly, Eloy Daron, Lenky, Danny Champaign, Baby G and Richie D
The young Bennett made his recording debut a few years ago with the combination What It Feels Like to Be Loved, which featured Beenie Man. The song, according to Nicky B, came about at the spur of the moment. He was in the studio humming to a song when Beenie Man heard him, liked the vibe and they just sat down and put the lyrics to a beat that a Swedish producer had brought into the studio.
Counted among his influences are the old school sounds of Barrington Levy, Maxi Priest, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Patti LaBelle, and Gladys Knight along with new school artists like Craig David, R. Kelly and Usher. Nicholas Bennett is singing in the island breezes, the world will hear.
