About Me

Sometimes I wish real life were like a musical, filled with spontaneous choreographed singing and dancing. Ok, maybe I wish it were like that all the time. Think about how much more interesting that lecture on NeoMarxism or seminar on gender colonization would have been if it was couched in cheesy lyrics and nimble taps! So, I wrote that some time ago, during my Chicago days . . . and while it still applies, I thought it was time for an update:If I could be a career student, I would. I love school- the exchange of ideas, the atmosphere of learning, the free time in the middle of the day, the crazy all nighters stressing over that major paper ... the celebration after you finish ... But for now, I like my job, the people I work with, and this new city. I enjoy sitting in a cafe w/ a cup o' joe and a good book; I love the theatre, the arts, and concerts; I'd rather be outdoors- going for walks, jogging along forest trails, or just watching the sunset; I love love love baseball and have been blessed to live in the cities that have hosted the past two World Series Champions; but most of all I love just chillin with good friends (which alas are all in Texas right now)...[if !IE] ..[endif]I edited my profile at Mywebpower.com , check out these Artistic MyspaceLayouts!

My Interests

I have a new hobby- COLORING... the rest still apply-reading, writing, dancing, photography, hiking/outdoor adventures, chasing squirrels, hot men in cowboy hats, Conan O'Brien (not in a cowboy hat), watching people dance like noone is watching, procrastination etc. etc. etc.

I'd like to meet:

adopt your own virtual pet!

Music:

I'm pretty eclectic- Jazz, Alternative, Swing, Rock, Country . . . depends on mood; I mostly enjoy voices- the boys include: new favorite Josh Turner (sexy, sexy man), Michael Buble, James Blunt, Garth Brooks, Jason Mraz, Jim Croce, Frank, Dean, my dad (who is a singer, guitarist and songwriter); the girls- Ella Fitzgerald, hmmm she's pretty much all ya need

Movies:

musicals: Guys and Dolls, Phantom of the Opera, Moulin Rouge, Chicago, Singing in the Rain, Top Hat, King and I; comic remakes: Spider Man, X-Men, Incredibles :-); epics: LOTR, Harry Potter, Star Wars, King Kong [PJ style], Gone with the Wind; random: Gosford Park, Pride and Prejudice (A&E version w/ Colin Firth), Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Love Actually

Television:

Alias!!!! So sad it got canceled and that Seasons 3-5 were kinda crap, but I am getting into this new show Heroes. Still a sucker for Lost, Gilmore Girls, and ummmmm baseball games (especially World Series games played in the city in which I live. . .)

Books:

anything Oscar Wilde or Jane Austen or Tolstoy or Thomas Hardy (a newfound favorite)

Heroes:

My parents ... they have given everything up for me and my siblings and want to do more for us than they can. I may not always agree with them, but I respect them and love them more than anybody else.

TX vs MO: Colbert weighs in ...

A few months back, when I wrote a few innocuous comments about the wonders of Texas, I had no idea it would instigate such a heated inter-state debate!  While the discussion has been comical, ent...
