Formed in 1983, MALHAVOC helped forge the sub-genre that would eventually be known as "Industrial Metal". Their fusion of heavy guitars, driving mechanical percussion, over-distorted vocals, and sampled electronics would eventually become a template used by such luminaries as MINISTRY, NINE INCH NAILS, and MARILYN MANSON.
Known for an intense live performance, MALHAVOC shattered boundaries that to this day are still considered taboo. Self-mutilation, arterial spray, and scarification are just a few of the nightly occurances that underscored the vitriolic sounds being generated by this relentless band.
Few performers could match them then; even fewer performers can match them now.
The MALHAVOC discography spans seven releases in total:
1987- "SHRINE" (The tracks appeared later on "Release" and "Premed...")
1990- "THE RELEASE"
1991- "PUNISHMENTS"
1992- "PREMEDITATED MURDER"
1994- "GET DOWN" (The debut of Dave "Rave" Ogilvie (Skinny Puppy, David Bowie, Jakalope) behind the control board.)
1996- "THE LAZARUS COMPLEX: A TALE OF TWO ZOMBIES"
2004- "HUMAN FLY" (A four-song teaser for the as-yet-unreleased "Anthems For the New Flesh: A Tribute To David Cronenberg" album.)
For the last several years, the creative force behind MALHAVOC (Jimi LaMort) has been working around the Toronto area as a successful club Dj, weaving a soundtrack for those lost souls that crave the best of the underground.
