Not such a movie buff because that hobby takes a lot of time, but these are some of my favorites: As Good As It Gets (overall story and actors), Amelie (story and style), Coming to America (classic comedy!), School Daze (great dialogue, music, actors...though acting was comme ci comme ca, and i'm a 4th generation HBCU grad;-), Manhattan (beautifully shot and very wordy in a cool Woody Allen way), Cooley High (great throwback), Boyz In the Hood (Cali and genre classic), the 5 Heartbeats (just an all around great movie) and I'm sure more to come.
CNN Current TV (www.current.tv), Boondocks Law & Order Sex & the City Grey's Anatomy Desperate Housewives Brothers & Sisters
So many that I'll just name some authors whose work I appreciate: Maya Angelou, Shell Silverstein, Richard Wright, Dr Suess, Toni Morrisson, Alice Walker, Earl Graves, John Steinbeck and a million more as I read more.
Hero is such a strong word, but I admire these people for pushing through their personal circumstances and obviously overcome-able adversities:Glenda Priestley,Janet Dalmas,Beulah Dalmas-Cousin,Myrtle Sterling-Priestley, Gwen Priestley, Patricia Priestley, Gezelle Brooks, Dana Holden, Bria Southern, Aja Southern, Nathaniel Brooks, Carol Fortune', Julian Petty and Oprah. ;-)
