About Me

Living a relatively simple life in the southern woods of NH with my son, a cat, and two Corgis. Work at local college and enjoy it immensely after spending many, many, too many years in the direct mail business. I think having a good sense of humor is the best approach to life. My sense of humor tilts slightly to the dry, dark and sarcastic (without being cruel, I hope) and while some people tell me I'm the funniest person they know I tend to think that perhaps they need to get out and meet some more people. However, I appreciate the thought -- I'd rather be thought of in those terms than some others I could think of. Besides going to work, I am striving to usher a teenager through to adulthood and hopefully steering him in the right direction showing him the options he has despite being raised in this quiet little corner of the state. I like going to the local summer stock theater, indie & foreign movies, any craft involving fiber - thread, yarn, wool, paper, collect collectibles though I had to quit collecting antique sewing machines pretty quickly--too heavy and too big--but I've got some pretty funky old phones that my son's friends think are pretty cool, going to local cruise nights and much more. Well, that's it for now. Have a wicked good day!

Silence.....

can be deafening.  The mind will fill in the void with assumptions that are more often than not inevitably shown to be untrue.  If, in fact, the truth is ever revealed.  What's worse?&n...

All's well that ends well......

It was tough but Bertie is now a little beach bum living over in Hampton NH.  I took her to Amherst car show and got one seriously interested person and then later that night got a call from some...

What IS the matter with me?

So the idea was to quench my mid-life crisis with the purchase of a specialty car.  Which I did to varying degrees of success.  But it gnaws at me, eats at me -- who am I to pour what few sp...

Happiness is a purring engine.....

Finally geared up in my Kamiks, coat and gloves, stomped through snow up to my knees (and higher in places) and managed to kick away enough snow around the driver's side door and the exhaust to try an...

Do I dare?

The Mini is sitting out under a foot or so of snow but it's warm out today and I'm wondering if I dare try and start her up.  If she doesn't start, I'll be bummed out for weeks contemplating havi...

All's well.....for now at least.....

Bertie is FINALLY on the road and I've been cruising with her for a week now.  A little nervous at first but her new engine seems to be roaring.  Checked my gas mileage and calc'd that I got...

Almost there!

The Mini is finally DONE!  Just needs an inspection sticker and away we go!  The mechanic gave me two cardboard boxes filled with the stuff he took off.  Had a look in the engine and wh...

Finally.....a verdict!

So the decision has finally been made that the only way to effectively deal with this Mini dilemma is to remove the fuel injection unit and turn her into a carb car.  Don't know what it means exc...

Arrrrrggghhhh -- still in the shop....

Does it make sense to own a car that's off the road more than on?  Waiting for parts to come in from England and even then don't know its newest mystery ailment will be cured.  Can anyone su...

Dilemma Part Deux

So I called the mechanic today and the Mini's on the lift.  Well, that's progress considering she has to go to a specialty mechanic who you hope will be able to address your car "some time soon" ...
