About Me

About meHi, I'm Gary - Guitarist with Rock / funk band ' Voices made me do it '. As a band we basically mix a very funky bass style with Rock / blues / grunge guitar style and extremely raw edge vocals - we dare to be different, not to get noticed, just to be different. Although we will probably sound like somebody, we don't try to emulate anybody or any style, that's just how we sound. Visit the band my-space page for more. If you like what you hear great, if not, well ' vive la difference '. Away from the music, If all goes to plan ( and I can pursued my wife ) in about 6 years I would like to leave this country that Messr's Blair and Brown are currently doing there best to ruin, and move to France where the lifestyle would suit me far better. Thats if they havn't taken what little money I have in yet more tax. Update Jan '08 Hiya. I just (almost) finshed my home studio in the garage. It's biult form industrial sheet steel and rockwool panels, a mixture of plain and sound absorbing panels. It's large enough to fit a drum kit and a few amps and cabs in, as well as my recording gear, and damps the sound enough not to annoy the neighbours. Some pic's are posted so have a blimp see what you think. Gotta build a decent desk now, also need a to upgrade my mixing desk so I can record in multi track staight to my p.c.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4

My Interests

Music ( kinda obvious that one ). Motorbikes - Mainly streetfighter style - with an attitude. Electronics, when I'm not drinking, playing geetarh or tinkering with my bike, I build valve amp's and repair stuff that other ham fisted and heavy footed muso mates have broke, in return for a couple of pints usually ( you listening Glyn? ).

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who can get rid of the labour government.

Music:

Got into rock music when a mate got us tickets to go see Motorhead on the Overkill tour back in 1978. I was 13 and had never even heard of them til that point. Talk about baptism of fire. Got into the usuall bands of that era and before, Deep purple, Sabbath, Zeppelin, Iron Maiden - before they went all theatrical and ridiculous, and Jimi Hendrix who I view as a pure genius who has yet to be equalled for shear talent and vision - drug fuelled or otherwise. Spent a good while listening to Jethro Tull when I should have taken more notice of The Stone Roses while they were happening, still, better late than never. John Squire brought a classic blues rock style to the Manchester dance scene .When I write stuff for our band I draw influence from a variety of bands and try to be a little different to all of them. My biggest critic is Paul (Mad Dog) Maddock, our bass player, who will basically veto's anything that sounds too classic rock and tells me to be more inventive and gritty (bass players eh). Suppose you could say my style lies somwhere between Metallica's Hetfield / Hammett and Tom Morello with a bit of Foo Fighters, but lacking the natural talent of any of them.

Movies:

Pulp Fiction. Henry V - with K.Brannah and the R.S.C. Don't watch a lot of stuff 'cos it bores me. I could be playing music instead.

Television:

Discovery Channel, Globe Trekker, A Place in the Sun, The Simpsons, South Park. Other than that TV bores me.

Books:

Terry Pratchett, Tom Holt any other fantasy funny's, WW1 factual books - when you read those it makes you realise just what a living hell those guy's went through to defend our, and the French nations.

Heroes:

Bob Geldof gets my vote every time, there aren't many prepared to go to the lengths he does to raise his voice for what he truelly believes in.
