I would like to meet people who have a true passion about some of the things I have as interests, it's always great to meet new people from all over the world, maybe some Alumni and old chums. This is also a great place for me to keep up with all my "Peeps" that are scattered across this crazy world. I would also like to meet people who can relate to my art and or life story, and anyone who has suffered the tragic loss of a child.
I have an ecliptic mix of music I listen to my favorites being Mazzy Star, Bob Dylan, Afghan Whigs/Greg Dulli now part of the Twilight Singers , Van Morrison, Johnny Cash, Iris DeMent, Counting Crows, Fiona Apple, Tori Amos.these musicians lyrics have seen me through some of the most inspirational, memorable, passionate moments in my history as well as some of the darkest times in my life. Others that I really like are Damien Rice, Nick Cave, MoZella, Joni Mitchell (Case of You), Coldplay, Sarah McLachlan, Shakira, Kanye West, Cake, Cracker, Dave Matthews, Dido, Louis Armstrong, Led Belly, Manu Chao, Matchbox Twenty, Radiohead, Richard Thompson, Ricky Lee Jones, Rolling Stones, Sting, Zap Mama, Traditional music/World music and the list it goes on but I think you get the idea.
Some of my favorite movies are:
Practical Magic- based on Alice Hoffman's best-selling novel
Anything wrote by Tennessee Williams such as Splendor in the Grass (1961), This Property Is Condemned (1966), A Streetcar Named Desire- all of his work is raw and real, reminds us that life is not always wrapped up in a pretty package for us to unwrap
All About Eve- I think we all know an Eve or two in our lives, sad and pathetic how people can be parasites ehh? In the end they get trapped by all their lies and deceptions.
Anything by Alfred Hitchcock
I also liked Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2, In Her Shoes, all of the Austin Powers, Whale Rider, and LOVE "Little Miss Sunshine"...just to name a few.
Let me know what you think....
One of my most favorite books and one I think holds many treasures in life is "The Little Prince" written and illustrated by Antoine de Saint Exupry.
My next book would have to be "Mr. Summer's Story"
Author: Patrick Suskind
Illustrated by: Goscinny Sempe.
Patrick is an amazing writer, his words flow like nothing I have ever known.
My last book would have to be "Old Turtle"
by Douglas Wood, Cheng-Khee Chee (Illustrator)
"Once, long long ago... yet somehow, not so very long....."I really think people would be greatly impacted by reading these books, they are wonderful tales on life and people we encounter along the way.
"You Must Be the Change You Wish to See In the World."
Mahatma Gandhi
"The only people to get even with are those who have helped you."
"Only oppression should fear the full exercise of freedom."
Jose Marti
"I don't paint my dreams. I paint my reality."
Frida Kahlo
"The artist lies to be able to tell the truth."
Pablo Picasso
"...Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you... I loved you so -- 'twas Heaven here with you"
