For the past two years, On The Sidewalk Bleeding has been developing and refining their sound within the Alberta music scene. Formed from previous bands this group came together and developed a new sound and style. They started writing songs as a hobby, which slowly turned into a more serious project. As the project progressed, the opportunity to play more shows became more available. Gaining momentum the group was invited to record a six song demo with Kevin Gales, owner/founder of Torque Records (Govan, Sask), after he discovered the band on myspace.com in the summer of 2006. Shortly after recording, the band found their full time bass player, Jeff Reirson. With this addition, the group?s performance and musical skill could reach a higher potential.
On November 3rd 2006, On The Sidewalk Bleeding had their CD release party at Avenue Skate Park in Edmonton for their six song EP. The last week of 2006 OTSB did a small promotional tour through southern Saskatchewan and Alberta. In the new year OTSB played numerous shows throughout Alberta, stopping in Edmonton, Leduc, Airdie, Fort Sask, Fort Mac, Drayton Valley, and Onoway. They shared the stage with bands such as, Greeley Estates (Science Records), Covette, Cry of the Afflicated (SolidState Records), Means (Torque Records), Ghosts of Modern Man, The Fortunate, and many other great Canadian talents.
Starting in spring 2007, OTSB started planning and booking a cross?Canada tour for August 2007. On August 3rd, OTSB played a sold out tour kickoff show in Fort Saskatchewan, then went on to play 12 cities, 15 shows across the country. Stops included Regina, Thunder Bay, Toronto, and Calgary. Highlights of the tour included, playing a showcase in Toronto, a sold out show in Portage La Prairie, and the privilege of headlining at several shows.
After a short hiatus in September 2007, OTSB was invited to the Hay River Youth Conference to play, also stopping in Peace River. Never being in the NWT or northwestern Alberta before, OTSB was well received by one of their largest crowds to date.
In late 2007, OTSB guitar player, Tom Pawelec parted ways with the band to pursue other endeavors. Long?time friend, and former bandmate of Reuben, Shane Meehan, quickly filled the vacant spot. Shane has known OTSB since the beginning, and has done most of the artwork for albums, posters, and merchandise that they have released.
With their new solid lineup, On The Sidewalk Bleeding is ready to take their musical careers to a higher level. Every member of the band brings a set of unique qualities, whether it be business savvy, networking skills, or logistical capabilities. Each member also brings an intense passion for the music they write, and the message they send to their local music scene. On The Sidewalk Bleeding is now ready to share that passion with the rest of the country.
