blues and boogie woogie consume me

About Me

Music. that's it. I'm a member of BOT, a blues organ trio too, and so far we've been around the SF bay area with it, and up to Portland. It's a new project just getting rolling and is highly rewarding as a player. Challenging to take over all the bass line duties and to switch from piano to organ. As a solo blues and boogie pianist/singer I've travelled to France and Belgium, and the lovely Caribbean. Over the years I've worked with Steve Freund, a stone cold blues guitarist from Chicago. He produced a couple of albums for me and I helped him on a little bit of his "C for Chicago" Delmark CD. For a while I worked with Hank Ballard and the Midnighters and oh that was fun. Hank was very special and exhuded love on stage. His connection with the audience was immediate. Over the years I've worked with legendary Ohio guitarist Dave Workman, and now focus on piano shows and the BOT.

My Interests

Music, food, gardening and ... travel

I'd like to meet:

you at a show. Come and dance, groove to some deep blues and jumping boogie piano.

Music:

Otis Spann, Otis Rush, Memphis Slim, Sunnyland Slim, Sister Rossetta, Pinetop Smith, Etta James, Blind John Davis, Little Brother Montomery and oooh so much more good stuff in blues, boogie and jazz. I have a soft spot for excellent guitar music too.

Movies:

How's the soundtrack?

Television:

Is it attached to a DVD player?

Books:

I read too much. Getting rid of my books so I'll start writing again and stop distracting myself. The New Yorker is great but geeze, how much time does it take to read an issue?

Heroes:

See above in music. Any one who's made an impact on peace in the world.
