Uh... I've been trying for a few minutes to think of how to say all this in a way that doesn't come off as pretentious, but I'm pretty sure that's a stupid thing to do. I like ideologies and worldviews, and I like learning about them. Things like primal religions, contemporary organized religions, subculture, etc etc. So yeah, I like learning and talking about things like that. I like listening to and playing music. I also like talking about it. I like chilling out, and I have very little patience for people that, for whatever reason, are unable to chill out. I like feeling frustrated, angry and helpless when it comes to politics, but I don't like to talk about it.
Hey, everybody. Why not?
Devo, The Wipers, Arthur Russell, The [English] Beat, punk rock, King Jammy, Elvis Costello, Mad Professor, Nation of Ulysses, dancehall, the Buzzcocks, Magazine, Harmonia, Modern Lovers, Parts & Labor, Can, Talking Heads
Dr. Strangelove, Slacker, Videodrome, The Big Lebowski, the first half of Full Metal Jacket. Essentially things that are funny and/or have explosions.
Discovery and History channel shows about aliens and/or ancient civilizations. Arrested Development. Aeon Flux. The Wire. Lost.
Breakfast of Champions, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Sun Also Rises, and the Crying of Lot 49 are generally the ones I mention when people ask. I feel like there's gotta be One Book that, upon first reading it, I'll immediately recognize as an all-encompassing summary of everything I've ever cared about or stood for. And that book is The Bible. Just kidding, but once I find that book, it'll probably be my favorite. If you've got any recommendations, let me know.
