Get Your Own Voice Player ManageDuane Johnson aka The Next Level.is an up and coming soul singer from the west coast who is a far cry from "just another guy you'll find at the local karaoke bar". His soulful singing all started at an early age. Accompanied by his son (Quobe), Duane has proved to be in a long line of Washington State talent. To understand him and his way of life, we must go back to his start. Born January 23rd, 1978 as "Duane Bradley Johnson" he was brought to Washington at 18 months old and enherited the last name "Altig". Being that his mother(Rose)has not been in his life, he still seems to express sensetive emotions through his life, and music. Being an Afircan American raised by a man named John was something out of the ordinary, considering the fact that John was a "White" man. His "Dad" (John) didn't have to choose to raise Duane, but he did, and raised him as if he was his biological son. He owned a car lot and took up selling cars in Portland Oregon. "I didn't even know I was a black kid untill I was in 3rd grade!". It was in 3rd grade where Duane seen the differences between him and his class mates after it was brought to his attention by a student who didn't want to sit with him because of his color. Being the intelligent person he was he didn't see the big deal between black and white. Being a boy of his stature, introducing friends to his father was nothing short of comical. Here is this big black kid introducing his friends to this small white man as "Dad"!! Going through school with music and sports being his motivation, Duane played football for his High School (Fort Vancouver), and some in college before getting hurt ending his football dreams. He started a couple of bands as do most musical hopefuls do, but didnt feel as though he was to be with anyone but himself. Duane started entering contests all over Washington and Oregon, and was saving the money from his earnings and buying the equipment that was needed to make his singing dreams come true. After making a name for himself in the "contest world" this soul singer has been mentioned in the same breath with the likes of Wanya Morris of Boyz II Men, Brian McKnight, Musiq Soulchild, a younger Luther, and more. His style, sound, and uniqueness is something that sets him apart from your average "R&B" singer! He is a smart and intelligent man who knows what it takes to make good music.Im not in this for the money, phat whips, big 25 bedroom houses, or the fame. Im in this because I love music and God gave me the talent to do it. I never take for granted the gift that I was blessed with. What I like so much about music is it's something that can bring you back to when you were most happy or the most sad like a musical time machine. It can bring different generations of people together in one beat, and make different ethnic groups all one group for that split second. Most importantly, Its what makes the world go round in my mind. Music is life with a beat.Duane still lives on the west coast, and although he's been featured on many other artist's albums, he is currently working on his first solo album The truth Is..... This is a album that will have people asking "Where has this guy been?". There is almost nothing that he cant do when it comes to music, so keep an eye out for this future household name. Duane Johnson........the truth..........."The Next Level".
