I have been accused, and justifiably so, of living inside my head. It makes me somewhat absent-minded in the daily routine of the mundane, and a bit too serious, though I have a wicked sense of humor. Fun is a concept I need to embrace more fully. I have an insatiable curiosity that has made me a voracious reader. It is said that curiosity killed the cat, but I am of a mind that it is conformism that dies when an unfettered mind goes in search of knowledge. While I find myself frequently disappointed in the human race, my hope lives in my 3 sons. They have angered, challenged and delighted, all the while maintaining their originality, character, principles, and individuality. In them I find profound joy.I find peace in gardening, release in writing, creative expression in scrapbooking and photography, comfort in the unconditional love of my three cats, inspiration in music, safety in the arms of my grumpy old Eeyore, and god while tromping through this beautiful Utah landscape.I am one of the terminally hopeful who believes peace is possible since it is in the best interest of the majority of the world's population. People just have to stop buying into the manipulation of the ruling elite, who fight wars for their own greedy agendas that have nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with freedom, liberation, or any of the other high-minded propagandizing lies used to fool ordinary people into doing the killing and dying. Wars have always been, and will forever be, fought for control of the world's resources, and the only just war is the war of defense against the violent aggression of one nation against another for this purpose. Sadly, our nation has become the aggressor. As citizens, it is our responsibility to seize control of our wayward government and bend it to our will.I was radicalized as a peace activist shortly following 911 when I was fired from my hometown newspaper for writing an oped challenging war as an appropriate or effective response to terrorism.
