Profile GeneratorAlonzo Hicks, aka '9.6.3' was born and raised on the Westside of Chicago(Garfield Park), mainly by his grandparents. He began seriously pursuing a career in music during his sophmore year of high school. 9.6.3, has been rappin since 1983 before rap had begun to take over the country. Don't be fooled by his quiet demeanor, 9.6.3 is constantly brooding over his business plans as much as he does his music. He is goal oriented and dedicated to his work.
He is also dedicated to Chicago. He believes wholeheartedly in supporting other Chicago artists along with having their business ethics in tact. On his upcoming release It Iz What It Iz" 9.6.3 works with local Chicago headliners such as Psychodrama, Da Snypaz, Danny Boy, (who's melodious voice was featured on early hits such as "I Aint Mad At Cha" and "Toss It Up" by the late great Tupac Shakur) Jah Rista, Max-A-Million and many more. Production was aided by Soundmaster T. who is also a featured artist on the album and is known for early local hits such as Too Much Booty in the Pants" and "Booty Rockin' Everywhere" (which is sampled on Bubba Sparkxxx "Miss New Booty" featuring The Ying Yang Twins) that has a influence on todays Atlanta sound. Reo and Jamal, who have produced tracks for Benie Segal/Jay-Z, Chris Brown, Keyshia Cole, Cam'Ron/The Diplomats, Monica, Mario and more comes with that flavor where 9.6.3 comes with a concept where he charms a woman who appears to have split personalities and sex appeal.
Waxmaster who helped pioneer Chicago's juke sound, which originated from house music, brings that flavor to the album during his featured appearance. Dawreckfrom Chicagos underground supergroup Triple Darkness brings a unique sound that is a complete spin-off from the hardcore thumping street adrenaline tracks he's known for. And, Rob Diggy, who has a sound that caters to R&B with the potential to crossover to hip hop.
This album contains songs that pertain to clubbing, the ladies, and the streets as well as politics, enjoying life, social, religious, drama, personal experiences, and serious issues that fit in our everyday lives. 9.6.3 delivers a song titled "Bombay" which features Max-A-Million, who brings his sexy Rastafarian voice to a club reggae body rocking sound that definitely get's the women up and out on the floor followed by men. He also brings his compassionate side to the ladies in his song titled "So Special" featuring Tony Redd on a hip-hop, R&B feel. Speaking on a monogomous relationship living in today's world where other women can and will be tempting. For the hard, grimey, and street hustling cats. 9.6.3 brings along side Da Snypaz & Jah-Rista in the song titled U Don't Wonna. Which talks about hard time hustling, money owed, hating, forced hands, and how it doesn't pay to be nice. The deliverence on this song comes across as if these guys really had some personal vendettas in the streets that sounds believable while flowing to a hard thumping mid-tempo track where each rapper switches up their own flow. "Contagious" is a titled song that features Buk (Yung Buk) of Psychodrama (who's known for kicking it off on Twista's titled song and first album classic Adrenaline Rush",who talks about a live centerfold that bares it all on stage in a strip club that has the men and women pulling out they dollars. In the song titled "The "Valley of Dry Bones" 9.6.3 who teams up with Buddha Bless who brings to you a true life story in their own translated version out of the Bible in the book of Ezekiel. Speaking on a cursed nation of people who are mentally dead and experiencing many bad conditions that will continue to come until that 'Great One', comes and raise them up out of their conditions.
9.6.3 packs a lot of content into this album, creating serious combustion when put up against many of today's mainstream artists. As well as Chicago's local scene. 9.6.3 has the ability to cover many grounds, which enables him to cross over a variety of styles, creating many concepts, and covering topics wording them in unique ways where a person's soul is touched
