It's a strange, ex-industrial town that seems to be wedged in ancient appalachia. It's all bridges and cloudy northeastern skies, brown rivers, coal dust, forests on hillsides that couldn't be developed, and no city planning whatsoever.
I'm living with my cousin, his wife, a roommate, and two cats (there are 62 fingers between all of the creatures in the house). We pretend to be interested in the Steelers, drink beers and cheer when they get a touchdown. We reduce, reuse, and recycle, compost our food scraps, and have a small vegetable garden in the front yard.
I fell in love with bicycles. I try to be as self-propelled as possible. If the weather is lousy, I take the bus. Not only can I change my own flat tubes, I can fix most anything on my bicycle (with a little help). My bicycle is known as "The Gazelle." It's totally sexy. I answer my friends' questions about bike racks, messenger bags, and fixed gear bikes (I ride geared).
I am interested in photography as a document, and I'm also interested in photography as art. I have all the equipment to set up a darkroom of my own, but I don't have a good darkroom space of my own. I use a Nikon D70s for my digital work, and I have several film bodies. I mainly use a Minolta 201, which came from my grandfather. He was an excellent amateur photographer.
I am vegetarian. My reasons, in this order, are environmental, humanistic, health, and animal rights. The caffeine in one cup of coffee makes me sick and dairy isn't good for me (get away from me with that latte!). Sometimes I find food in Dumpsters, and my goal is to put more effort into finding edible garbage. I believe that food is meant to be shared, so please cook, bake and eat with me.
I want to learn a little bit about everything-- especially if it's homemade. Do you make your own shirts? food? booze? music? movies? art? furniture? news? Bring me along and show me how it's done, I'll love to help and learn.
