Too darned many to list adequately. I'm a big fan of Michael Porter's trilogy of books on business strategy, John Eldredge's trilogy of books on Christian growth, and Andrei Cherny's "The Next Deal" ranks high on my alltime list, also. Stephen Coll's "Ghost Wars" and Samantha Power's "A Problem From Hell" are also etched deeply into my wiring.

Heroes:

Few & far between: William Proxmire is the only one that comes to mind right away.
