So I figured one day that if God wanted me to record an album, it really didn't matter what record labels thought about it right? So I started recording...and an album came out. Granted, it was 6 months of long nights and weekends in the studio (Its called a studio, it's more of a quaint room with a small amount of studio gear).
For Darkness to Light, my awesome brother Dan played drums, and I was somehow able to do the rest. I definitely feel like God taught me how to mix and master. I'm currently working on drums so I can one day record an entire album by myself.
I'm living my life to create projects that can hopefully carry a sense of the presence of God to the hurting and hungry hearts. One day, when I'm more wise, books will probably be included, but for now it's music. These songs are anthems of my life. I live to these prayers put to music.
Influences: Old School Vineyard Albums, Kent Henry, my brother Jim, about anybody who tops the pop charts (for their amazing ability to reach the masses), a bunch of indie bands (for their ability to be unique).
Honestly, though, I believe that far too much worship is influenced more by the world than by the presence of God. So many of the creative ideas that the worship musicians come up with are inspired by bands and guitar players who neither understand nor care about the presence of God...I honestly wonder if my playing is any better.
Right now, I'm just working to get to the place where I can honestly say that my relationship wth God has completely inspired the sounds, the words, and the feeling of the albums that I record. I'm praying about recording a worship album over a 20 day fast...who knows...
