DAX BEFORE JON: Dax's first attempt at music was during his junior year in high school with buddy Rich Kovachs (sorry for the spelling Rich). This "rushed project" was called Demogorgon, an amateur Death Metal band. All the kids loved them, but no-one else did, but they were able to squeak out one LP (one day in the making) - but where it went nobody knows, not even Dax or Rich. In their short amount of time going nowhere, they also created home video of the band playing live in their "studio" (Dax's house) but this, like the LP, fell into the abyss. So, knowing Demogorgon was a bust, Dax and Rich added Frank Cox as Lead Vocalist (since neither of the two of them wanted to sing (or scream) anymore, changed the name to Sickness and tried it again. Sickness did prove to be a bit better than Demogorgon, producing three live shows and one LP that was released, but again if you have one, please let us know. Before their first show, Frank developed stage fright and chose to become Dax's drum tech and roadie. They replaced Frank with Jerry Fill to complete the band. Interestingly enough, Frank may not have done the live shows, but he did manage to be on the LP. As history is proving, Sickness crapped out. Dax started to get serious now and started looking for stable bands to play with. After a chance meeting with Mike (don't remember the rest), Infuriated was started. Infuriated basically "practiced" at big studios and many people watched them "practice" but all they ever really did was "practice". After Dax bailed out, dummy, right before they signed a major recording gig, Infuriated went through the motions, played out a few shows and then of course, broke apart. Why did Dax bail out? Well, that's for him to know and no-one to find out - until he's on MTV doing an interview with Kurt Loder about Mindnumb. *We forgot to mention that all the while that Dax was "practicing" with Infuriated, he was working on the side with his band Brooder (R.I.P). Brooder was founded by Dax Druckman and former band mate and Lead Vocalist Mike Ireton. DAX AND JON: Dax and Mike auditioned Jon Fisher for Guitar and they clicked. So Brooder was Dax, Mike and Jon. Sneaky Dax then "stole" Infuriated’s Bass Guitar player J.T. Murphy and added him to the mix. The Brooder project earned Dax and Jon and the boys instant notoriety. Booking by the dozens were played and Brooder soon became known as being one of the Valley's "Heaviest Bands" being compared with the already popular Sledgehammer and No One's Hero. In fact, a big show put on by Mr. Guy Hoops, the owner of the Lehigh Valley Live concert promoters, personally chose Brooder to be placed on the bill at a show at the Blue Valley Farm Show Building in Bangor, with No One's Hero, Sledgehammer, and Turnbull A.C. This show was not only a HUGE success, boosting Brooder's popularity and fan base at an alarming rate, but it also provoked local journalists of the Express Times to write about the infamous fighting and raids that took place that night. Poor Brooder only got to play 2 songs, Pillow being the tune that became known as "the straw that broke the camels back." Shortly afterwards, Brooder split, see interview with Kurt Loder for these details also; just as an offer for a record deal was laid on the table by a famous local producer. Towards the end of Brooder, Dax and Jon experimented with a project called Undefined. This was a project that only produced one LP and basically went nowhere. Dax and Jon then decided to, yet again, begin another project, that would be known as Mudskipper. With the addition of a bassist and lead vocalist, Mudskipper soared to the top of the local charts, playing venue's all across the Lehigh Valley. After Mudskipper's demise, Dax and Jon went their own ways, leaving the music behind. After several years and 3 Stone Image LP's later, Dax's love of music and need to play on stage once again brought him to contacting Jon in hopes of resurrecting their musical chemistry once more. Jon fit in well with the other band members, and in no time at all, they were playing classic rock cover tunes for audiences of their family members, neighbors and friends. Expressing himself through music and creating on-the-fly stage show theatrics for his audiences, was what Jon liked best. It was a great time for everyone, while it lasted. Jon's creativity and desire to express himself through his music began to take control. Not being able to repress it any longer, Jon held a meeting with the band and put some outstanding ideas and visions on the table. Jon was forced to face the fact that he was in a band that was really quite happy with the way things were going and weren’t thrilled at make changes. This made Jon’s decision to leave the band an easy one. Afterwards, Jon spent most of his time bouncing from one garage band to another one, growing more frustrated, angry and unhappy. Jon decided that he needed to step out of the music, and took a hiatus that lasted 6 years. After 6 years alone, Jon’s musical influences switched gears, becoming more aggressive. Jon soon began to realize that the aggression in music created for him, an outlet for his anger. Jon then wrote his first song, realizing his musical calling must focus on writing his own music and lyrics. Jon’s talents didn’t go unnoticed. A band called Negative Outlook jumped at the opportunity to offer Jon a spot with them, and he accepted, with much hesitation. Negative Outlook encouraged Jon to write and be creative. They played mostly hardcore NY style rock, which allowed Jon the perfect setting with musical aggression everywhere, propelling his creativity to heights unimaginable. Jon's biggest break to date, came when a friend of a friend of Jon's, recommended Jon try out for a new start up band. This friend of a friend's name was Jerry Fill, who is good friends with Dax Druckman. Dax got in contact with Jon, conversations were held, and Brooder was born.
