About Me

Nicodemus began in late 1998 as a project of bassist and keyboard player Christopher Morris. After graduating with two music degrees, he launched his own label, Dark Throne Music, to release a new work. October of 2000 saw the release of the debut Nicodemus CD, Tales of the Lovelorn & Necromantic. Inspired by traditional, progressive, and European black metal, the album achieved critical acclaim for its original blend of musicianship and dark atmosphere. The album received wide international distribution as the unique sound caught on resulting strong sales and press attention. By this time, Nicodemus had grown to include Andrew Greene on drums (and webmaster, art director, and business partner) and Mathew McGee on lead guitar.
In 2002, Nicodemus signed with goth-metal label Dark Symphonies and recruited a second guitarist, Dave Peters. February 11th, 2003 saw the release of The Supernatural Omnibus. This era also saw the hiring and quick departure of Tamar Yvonne who was brought on board to attempt an element of female vocals soon deemed unnecessary. Critical acclaim continued with the more melodic and progressive approach of the album. With more focused songwriting and stronger progressive arrangements, the band left Dark Symphonies and sought a new home.
2004 saw the signing of a deal with Greek metal label Sonic Age Records. Matthew McGee left in mid 2005 and was replaced by long time friend of the band, and the studio engineer of the next release, Chris Finster. Vanity Is A Virtue was released in June of 2005. The relationship with Sonic Age was short lived and the group returned to independence. After the release of Vanity, Nicodemus released two ambitious music videos ("Next in Nocturne", and "...and It Becomes You") and toured internationally with long time friend of the band, Erik Scholibo on keyboards. After a hiatus, the group experienced a few setbacks ending in a legal complication involving the brand name and trademark.
Deciding to move forward, Nicodemus members Christopher Morris, Andrew Greene, Chris Finster, and Dave Peters have re-grouped and re-branded under the name Bow To Rome. Songs for the debut BTR album are currently being written and will hopefully see release near the end of 2008.
