Welcome!
I'm Kelly!
I study English at Brighton University
When I'm not in Brighton I live in Bromley.
It was good in the 1970's I'm told.
It is a good thing for an un-educated man to read books of quotations (Winston Churchill)
If you aren't in over your head, how do you know how tall you are? (T. S. Eliot)
Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons. (Woody Allen)
All I ask is the chance to prove money doesn't make you happy. (Spike Milligan)
A truth thats told with bad intent beats all the lies you can invent. (William Blake)
Every harlot was a virgin once. (William Blake)
Its easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend. (William Blake)
Most plain girls are virtuous because of the scarcity of oppurtunity to be otherwise. (Maya Angelou)
Absence - that common cure of love. (Lord Byron)
Though lovers shall be lost, love shall not. (Dylan Thomas)
Those who restrain their desires do so because theirs is weak enough to do so. (William Blake)
Contraceptives should be used on every conceivable occassion. (Spike Milligan)
Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future. (Oscar Wilde)
Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months! (Oscar Wilde)

I'd like to meet:

They say never meet your idols, but in the realms of fantasy I would like to meet Bob Dylan. Although in reality he would terrify me. He would also hate me adding YouTube videos of him to my Myspace. But fuck it, its not like I will ever meet him. So I would like to meet Bob. And kiss him. And probably make him feel as uncomfortable as only a fan could. Bob...

Feel free to email or add me to msn [email protected] x

Music:

I love:

1950's Rock'n'Roll 1960's Rock'n'Roll 1970's Rock'n'Roll 1980's Rock'n'Roll 1990's Rock'n'Roll 2000's Rock'n'Roll and Motown

I like/am happy to listen to some: Folk, Jazz, Country, Swing, Blues, Classical, Dance, Electro, Punk, Reggae, Indie and stuff with "core" on the end.

I do not like most Rap, R'n'B and Metal.

Kimi says I like "old music", I say "good music".

I like music with good lyrics, with the exception of Marc Bolan haha.

I love:

Bob Dylan
David Bowie
The Smiths and Morrissey

The Clash
The Cure
Kings of Leon
The Rolling Stones

Fleetwood Mac

This week I've been listening to:

Kaiser Chiefs
The Beatles

Radiohead's new album

Television:

"I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book" - Groucho Marx

Unfortunately, I do like television, especially...

Sex And The City
Manchester United games
Jonathan Ross
The Friday Night Project
Nathan Barley
Family Guy
The Simpsons

Books:

I like autobiographies/biographies
Bob Dylan Chronicles
Tarantino: the man and his movies...
Recently read Ham On Rye by Charles Bukowski, loved it.

Just finished reading The Cement Garden by Ian McEwan.

I read and love a lot of poetry books, particularly Philip Larkin and D. H. Lawrence.

I'm currently reading Sons and Lovers.

I also read any magazine I find lying around, which is usually Daves "Nuts" or "Zoo". Lucy Pinder, what a great writer. Such strong advice.

Heroes:

"There used to be a time when the idea of heroes was important. People grew up sharing those myths and legends and ideals. Now they grow up sharing McDonalds and Disneyland" - Bob Dylan

Its quite difficult to pick heroes without me chopping and changing my mind... I admire lots of people, but I don't know if I would call someone "My Hero!"
Here are some people I admire or just think "WOW" for various reasons:
Bob Dylan
Morrissey
Paul Weller
John Cooper Clarke
Mark Knoffler
Chrissie Hynde
Humphrey Bogart
Jarvis Cocker
Sam Cooke
Philip Larkin
D.H.Lawrence
John Turturro
Steve Buschemi
Judy Garland
Pedro Almaldovar
David Lynch
Jonathan Ross
Peter Cook
Natalie Portman
Edward Hopper
Anyone who can speak two languages
Robert Smith
David Bowie
Christopher Walken, if only he'd stop doing those shitty "comedies" all the time...
