Grateful Feat SpeakEZ & Bjorn
..
Mikey Rockwell - Quality music and connected material. He who musically grew up on "Good Hip Hop" and many diverse styles of rock, funk, grunge, indy, blues, jazz, folk - anything that had soul to it. Mikey has developed rhyme skills in an underground hip hop, jazz, funk and soul scene.
He has been responsible for rocking parties and fronting for jazz/funk fusion bands such as The Funk Clinic and Timothy William Trio, and more recently as the unofficial fourth member of Kolab at their live shows.
Mikey's travels into the studio have birthed joints such as - Rockwell the Kid EP (2006), Creation EP (2006), Kung Fu Kitchen (2006) and Quintessential Space Travel Guide (2007). All with his own beats, rhymes and engineering.
2007 saw the unique opportunity to record new songs at the brand new Greenlane Studios. 6 months later, this music maker now has a full length LP with 13 new tracks ready to hit the streets in 2008. (These tracks have features from Bjorn (Opensouls), Speakez (Kolab) and Huia Hamon).
In 07 Mikey picked up a nomination for best unsigned artist at the 07 NZ/AUS Urban Awards, and the trip to Aus was the first platform for filming the "Turn Ya Dial Up" video, now on Juice TV
Turn Ya Dial Up - The lead single from Mikey Rockwell's Free Slaves is out
