I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I've eaten squirrel. My middle name and my last name have the same number of letters. I have extreme egalitarian tendencies. I was more humble before I discovered breakfast burritos. I prefer cats, but I'm discovering an interest in Spaniels. My current car has been hit on all four sides by four different drivers in four separate accidents -- LA roadway battle scars kick ass! I have Skelli tattooed on my chest, next to a tattoo of my son. I'm not as much of a sports dork as my profile suggests (I usually read with a game on in the background, but reading is the more exciting thing to do). Last fall, I had a hard-on for Southern American writing--now, I'm reading semi-subversive writers again. I tithe to charities, though not as a result of some religious compunction were I to keep that money instead. Jermaine the wienie dog will not sleep on the people bed. I lie regularly on the intarweb...2294% DRUNKARD

My Interests

My Panda, the Kid Unit, books, CSU Fullerton Titans baseball and basketball, Los Angeles Kings, Green Bay Packers, Texas Longhorns football, San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, Tottenham Hotspur FC, Los Angeles Galaxy, Los Angeles Dodgers, Minnesota Twins, Texas Rangers, Perl, cats, meat, bell peppers, Moleskines, Retro 51 pens, naps, giant pandas, red pandas, polar bears, bookstores, nice writing tables, history, t-shirts with pockets, pillows, lagers, trying to figure out rugby, driving places, pipe-smoking (tobacco pipes), video games, stacking books, long conversations, rambling, cubes and triangles, Slackware and Debian, the Free Software Foundation (member since 2004), book reviews, people who believe everything they see or read, neighbors, toothbrushes, school and work souvenirs, magazines and newspapers, GNU emacs, rechargeable toys, multi-tools, ropes, Kleenex ball fights, spicy food, middle fingers, your thoughts about (insert topic here), saw painting, AOL chat rooms, Y!M audibles, chaos, knots, learning, manners, my Wife's singing to me, and the stack of books I have yet to read.

I'd like to meet:

Hey, it's "WhoM I'd like to meet." Anyway, gimme English and American lit geeks and writers, or people who would like to discuss the "anything you can do, I can define better" phenomenon*. Beyond that, shit, I don't know -- everyone is cool.

* Thanks Cathleen, for the succinct wording.

I'd also like to meet rms and Eben Moglen , and buy them a free beer.

Music:

Geez, I dunno. I guess I could fill out a long list of bands and performers, but my mind is drawing a blank at the moment. Ummm, Black Sabbath, Social Distortion, CCR, Johnny Cash, Nirvana, Pennywise, Down By Law, the Gits, the Distillers, Spinnerette, Green Day, Minor Threat (me != sXe), Lungfish, Circus Lupus, Bad Religion, Rage Against the Machine, 1970s hard rock, the B&S Boys, the Who, Waylon and Willie, Shooter Jennings, X and all of their offshoot bands, Godsmack, a lot of generic crap, other crap of which I cannot think at the moment, other stuff too?

Movies:

Not often, unless my wife says it is good or the Kid Unit recommends it. I watch "Easy Money" on my birthday every year too. "Blazing Saddles" has historial significance for me. .. height="350" width="425" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www....." ..

Television:

Nope (well, okay, football, American football, basketball, hockey, and baseball playoffs), stuff my wife watches, cartoons with the Kid Unit. Law and Order, because as a pal of mine wrote "it's always on." Ummm, crap. I've started watching "Nashville Star," and I dig it. What else? I've found some time to watch the new "Battlestar Galactica," reality Bravo TV with the Wife, "Cavemen," bits and pieces of "Heroes," and "Robot Chicken" here and there.

Books:

Yes, many, daily. John Steinbeck, Kurt Vonnegut, Flannery O'Connor, William Faulkner, William Shakespeare, William Saroyan, Greek drama, military history, US history, various social sciences, programming books (Perl, C, and Linux in particular), a bunch of nerd stuff from my younger days like Frank Herbert, Jennifer Roberson, Guy Gavriel Kay, David Eddings, Fritz Leiber, C. J. Cherryh's Russian Stories, Terry Brooks, Tad Williams, Robert E. Howard, etc. There's a boatload more.

Heroes:

Drunken, chain-smokin', surly writers. The creator of the Moleskine. Expert book binders. Independent bookstore owners. The person or people who developed the formula for Mountain Dew, the only true nectar. Courtney Love.
