About Me

I dropped out of school when I turned 16, and I played in a band with my best friends for a while. The lead singer was a mormon, so he had to move to Utah and then go knocking on people's doors for two years. Our band split up, but I miss it a lot. I started sitting in on classes at the University of Delaware for a free education, because I had virtually no money to attend college. For a while I biked around Wilmington and Newark with some of my best friends, dumpstering and staying at my parent's house. Most of my friends moved away, stopped biking very often, or got a job. I moved into an apartment in Newark. I got a minimum wage job serving Pizza on Mainstreet. I got a job for the University that paid much better. I also continued doing free-lance artwork on mainstreet and up in North Wilmington. I quit all of my jobs for the summer. Some of my friends that had moved away came back to Delaware so we could ride bicycles again. Only this time we rode up to New England and explored all of the states on the way, sleeping in tents, riding in the rain and riding in the sunshine. We went our separate ways in Providence, RI and then split up further in Boston, MA. I played outside for the remainder of the summer. Summer left so I asked for my jobs back, and then I enrolled at DelTech. I found a nice house in Newark to live in with 5 other friends. I traveled America throughout January with 2 of my roommates and one other friend, then I came home to my house in Newark and began working more. I left that house in May and started sleeping on friend's sofas and scamming free food from the University. I stopped going into work anywhere, but I continued to do freelance artwork and live off its income. In July I traveled through the Heartland of America with my good buddy and became inspired once more. I spent most of my summer hanging out with silver and gold friends, swimming in creeks on a regular basis. Eventually I reverted to sleeping mostly on my parent's couch, since every room is otherwise occupied. January came. New developments in my social life combined with unpleasant weather coerced me to travel south alone and volunteer for a short period of time. This crucial time served as an eye-opener and eventually led me to the realization that i need to leave the country. So I did. I went to Spain, bicycling and fumbling through conversations with the locals and eventually significantly increasing my Spanish vernacular. Bicycling through small villages on broken roads for water and bread and camping in the wilderness. After a two week stint with some squatting street performers in Barcelona I had busked enough money to boat over to Italy, where I camped on Mt.Vesuvius and explored Pompeii, eventually biking north through mountains and farms into Rome, where I busked enough money for a plane ticket up to Berlin, to spend some time with my friend, Ronja (and her gracious family of course). After some time there I dropped by London where I stayed with some pals studying abroad from the University of Delaware. I decided not to over-impose, though I had grown quite fond of the place for one reason in particular, so I ferried over into France and began bicycling north. Once in Belgium my right knee began distressing me and I was entirely out of money, so I got a job painting some wall in Brugge for a week to allow my legs some much needed rest and to have free meals and a roof over my head. Once I grew tired of working for free I hopped up to Amsterdam where I found myself staying with an old friend, sleeping in parks, squatting abandoned projects and dancing until the sun comes up with anthropology students. My knee continued to be a bother so I'm considering my options once I return to the States, until then I'll continue bicycling with only my left leg, leaving the right one to dangle helplessly.
