My name is Jheri Jean. I usually just go by "Jheri". I was born in June of 1985 in Honolulu, Hawaii. My dad is japanese and my mom is filipino. I know a few words in filipino, not much. And I speak minimal japanese. I have a full time job and still taking that "break" from school. It doesn't take much to make me happy and I CAN be easily amused at times. Trip to Cordova, Alaska....

Onward to Cordova!!! From Anchorage, we had to head over to a place called "Bear Valley". From Bear Valley we had to pay $12 to drive through this tunnel to Whittier. I guess we were "excited" cause we got to Whittier almost two hours early..We met up with Michelle, David, and Michael and adventured through a pedestrian tunnel..
Now, from Whittier, we hopped on a ferry which cost me $378 for two passengers and a vehicle..This was the first time on this particular ferry cause it was new..it was pretty "high class" compared to the older ones I had to ride in the past..The trip to Cordova from Whittier usually took nearly six hours. On this trip it took only three..and yeaaa we fell asleep=)

Okay, before we even arrived in Cordova, we were like, "OMG YEA we should SOO go fishing for halibut!!!" So whatever, we go halibut fishing..Saying stuff like, "Yea it's sOO Fun when you catch one!" and "OMG haven't caught one in like, forever!!" lol soo we go out there right?? The first spot we hit, NOTHING!..we're like "Okay cool, we'll just try another spot..then BAAM!! No Halibut..We move a little bit more..then finally we get desperate..We start saying stuff like, "DAMMIT! this is gay" and "AGH LAME!!" and "AH i'll take anything, even if it's a skate (aka stingray)".. after a while i feel this yank on my line..so i pull it up...I "kinda" feel something..and i'm sitting there with Michael just BS'in about how much fish we didn't catch..then i reel in my line s'more..it's like 100+ feet deep..so finally i pull up this fish..as soon as it surfaces, it just floats upside down! WTF???? it's just gonna give up on me like that?? We start crackin up and my uncle's like, "hurry! bring it up!!" i guess he had a point..i was sitting there laughing at the fish when it could just swim away..and later on we ended up at an "oyster farm" (^o^)V
On my entire trip, I caught a total of nine silver salmon during three different "fishing sessions"..We went down the river twice and on the side of the road once..Fishing for salmon is waaaay better than your regular "trout" fishing..Salmon puts up a better fight and in the end, you get to wack em over their heads with a stick or rock..
After we got our fish, we headed over to the Cannery (aka fish factory) haha..We made Junior try to fillet our fish..then we just vaccuum packed out portions and bothered Junior for a little bit..Yea, that whole "putting stickers on jars" deal is Junior's real job..
We visited "Child's Glacier" which is little over an hour away from the town of Cordova..You can actually witness bits and pieces breaking off from the glacier.. Every so many years a huge piece will fall and a gigantic wave will be sent over in your direction..I haven't seen anything like that, but i've heard stories of course..oh yea, we got a flat tire on the way back lol..
This is when we were catching salmon...Now i know it may look "mean"..but after we catch a fish, we need out lures back=)..and we can't have a fish squirming around while we try to pry our hooks out of their mouths now, can we? (yea you can hear us laughing in the background)
