To live is so startling, it leaves little time for anything else~

About Me

Some days, it's like this...
well, but, my name's not Dorothy...
I'd like to thank my Mom for saving her circa 1971, groovy short-shorts for me to rock all these years later!
These are the golden children...
Oh, and, I do love the ballet...
"Here I am, a bundle of past recollections and future dreams, knotted up in a reasonably attractive bundle of flesh."
*More about me... definitely an over-analyzer of people's synaptic misfires.
What I would have said if I had said it...
What I tried.... I once made a New Year's resolution to see every Broadway show ever! But, the next year, I made a different resolution, as NY's resolutions usually go... but, here's a fav
I have really happy, musically distinguished ears because of...
How I survived the late '90's musically, along with tea and carrots (not pictured)...
OF COURSE, GRACE TOO, BUT THE EFFECT THAT SKETCHES HAD/HAS ON ME IS TOTALLY UNGOOGLEABLE...
What makes me happy (really happy)... this is pretty little Gulab Jamun. IT'S OOZINGLY MAG HONEY-DRIPPING MMMM-NESS IS FOOD IN ART FORM.
I've fallen completely for the idea of the romanticized life of artists and the little bohemian gypsies that wander beneath their quirky, brighter exterior- but, what makes art beautiful is that it's everywhere, it's what's happening, it's experiencing, learning... art is in everything(my def of art- anything and everything that completely renders your senses helpless)... it's staying up so late that it's time to get up already... the avant garde... the edge... words and travel. Oh, wild, wonderful photography and art are truly diggable (esp my own- werd!)!
Pavement art is total madness! Check this out...
I'm pretty much a dog person. But, I dig cats too, and, right now, I have a cat- a stray cat currently named Al (cos it changes. Alot.). He usually wakes me up with a marathon meowing session. Oh, and I just discovered that he LOVES Miles Davis! When we just chill out around the Christmas tree, which has now been up since November (well, I finally took it down, but there were enough pine needles on the floor to make an entire new tree!), we put on some Miles and Al just glows in the warmth of those temperamental jazz vibes. He especially likes Bitches Brew. One day, I hope to have a dog with really great taste in music, too.
"The fact was I had the vision...I think everyone has...what we lack is the method" - Jack Kerouac
I'd like to work with kids, teaching expression through art-- not that I'm qualified or anything-- but I just think they need someone to care enough and show them the importance of exploring their individual creativity, esp now, since ART is being phased out in schools- WTS? ~~Or, rescuing animals from deranged morons who have no respect for them... ~~or, filling a spiritual and intellectual void--with words-- that seems to be leading the way of life for some... There's a lot of work to do... wow, heavy, I know.
But, I dunno, if you're still reading this, you're a gem- and then some. For now, I'm riding the heat wave of electric lights glaring down on me as I toil with a vengeance to shuffle papers from my hands to yours, but, check it, I'm not gonna let a little aimless toiling crash my positive wave. Totally.
National Center for Missing & Exploited Children
I like to save things, like people, animals, bugs and the world, but need this once in awhile...
I plan to go to Cali and visit all of the lost souls, and then on to Carnaby Street to get lost myself, but that's much later. For now, I love to surf the web, bc, well, I can't surf anything else- my scheme is to learn to surf the real surf one day and just do it . My thoughts are always taking off and one of these days I hope to follow!
Libraries and book stores are my second home and, if you need me, you can usually find me there. I volunteer whenever I can- check it out, I'll hook you up!xo ..
I should have been a Scorpio, but I'm making the most of being a Sag and I can explain that.
You could make a lot of lemon juice out of these bees...
Oh, and, chances are, if you see me strolling down a street, I'll have a chai, latte' (you know it!) or a cuppa joe in hand... Also, I'll probably be chatting up some local, smiling drifters- they never get any respect!
Once, I stopped to talk with a man who noticed the books that I was carrying and we ended up chatting about Jack Kerouac and the Beat writers-- a totally great experience and I think he plans to run for Mayor or something... dunno, but he was a great guy and I still see him around sometimes.
In this case, it's ok to be a follower...

...in this case, too...

~Dont ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive~

My Interests

I'd like to see this, before I become this

Here's a not-so-brief, but-exceedingly-comprehensive, description of me, in lyric form, if you like...

Sadly, this star I mistrust- her pallor, I strangely mistrust...

Vancouver in its infancy... "You people don't know this one... neither do we." Oh, but they did, in a BLOW-YOUR-MIND RIFF, AURALGASMIC, SOUL-SHAKING-MELODIC kind of way...

Strange movies/even stranger movie nights, dinner rendezvous with my peeps, numerous, failed snowboarding attempts, numerous (future) failed surfing attempts, busker(ing?), writing the soundtrack to my life, not sleeping (well, one eye does sometimes), picking tunes for my page, the balance (or imbalance) of chords, bass lines that make me cry- or at least space out, twisty, turny, churny melodies, overwhelming with emotion, the minor fall and the major lift, nicknaming my cat (currently Voltaire) and.... photobooths! I have a fab habit of speaking foreign languages at work-- no one knows what I'm saying, so they just look at me and smile. I don't know what I'm saying mostly, but it makes me mysterious, so... oh, and I'm incredibly jealous of my friends who constantly get to go to rock shows and leave me behind, um, incredulous and wo the kingly memories... it's all about geography- er, at least I thought it was. Take my darling bud, "B," whose world was rocked so hard by one of those rock shows (you might have heard of it? A little event known as Coachella?), that he now plans to move to Cali (from Ohio)... he didn't let a little thing like a few thousand miles stand in his way! Sigh... it's just so rock n roll

~I have a thing for politeness. It's obscure and I wonder... does anyone subscribe anymore??~

Where's the nearest coffee shop?

I'd like to meet:

Every piece of Jack Vettriano art,

These incredible-modern-musical lads...

AS WELL AS THESE...

music mathematician, Ash Bowie...

...in my living room, with a beverage. Mainly a beer beverage, and

THE coolest cat on earth (well, maybe not ON earth...) (David Hemmings), would've been nice for a chat over fish & chips

~These best friends~

~Oooh, Serge and Jane were so sweetly contagious... I'd still like to meet Jane, for real.

~Mary Quant, to thank her

More bookcases for my books, please, and more books, ANTI-MEAN PEOPLE. Peeps who research things... oh, for sure, Joni Mitchell, who I discovered while "playing" with my parents' stacks of albums as a wee babe, and who was the earliest reason that I fell in love with music...

Maybe a guy who's smarter than me...
or, a blind man...
Oh, and JOEL GION, who is very entertaining and makes me laugh. Hard.:

BUT, MOST OF THE PEOPLE THAT I WANT TO MEET HAVE CLOCKED OUT OF THIS LIFE... THERE'S ALWAYS THE NEXT.

PLEASE BE NICE AND SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE PENGUIN, AND REMEMBER, IF YOU EVER GET LONELY, JUST GO TO THE RECORD STORE AND VISIT YOUR FRIENDS... Penny Lane

NPR/World Cafe, and really good covers- they don't have to be fancy or anything and can take place at your local 7-Eleven(Elliott Smith covering the Kinks' Waterloo Sunset)...

"We were the chosen rejects. We chose not to be a part of the popular crowd... I would rather hang out with the people who didn't get picked for the baseball team, you know, who smoke cigarettes and listen to rock n roll music" ~Kurt Cobain

MUSICALLY SPEAKING... Jeffrey B. with a helping of 60's French, a dish of random acts of sound, a pinch of no-wave, a slice of new wave, a side of me, singing in the shower, oh, and maybe a beverage of beer.

And, mostly, music that flows like a soundtrack to a dream... all of the fab bands that have graced my page with their sonic rad-ness... oh, and all of those I have have yet to discover...
Condensed version: Any and all music really (with the exception of almost all processed, packaged and hydrogenized country music) from Brit Folk to modern rock, lo-fi to punk, R&B to many variations of pop and jazz-- plus a zillion more, but you'll have to ask. Dig?
