About Me

"I'm into eyes. They're what I'm drawn to in other people. They're the most vulnerable part of the body, and the strongest, too." (Brooke Burke, Playboy magazine November 2004)

I started shooting in 1991 while I was living in Alaska. While there I mainly focused on shooting landscape. This sparked my passion for shooting and I always tried to keep with the basics not all the flash. Keeping the shot a work of art was and still is the key. I continued to shoot for several years before I took a break to find my creative side. In the early spring of 2002 I made a giant return to the photo world. For my return I wanted to take my passion of landscape shooting and blend it with the most powerful force known, that force is the female figure. But the promise I made to myself was to shoot this force of beauty only in the beauty that is nature. To me the aspect of a studio is like shooting a wild animal in a zoo.My basic way of shooting is simple. I try not to go for a pose, because a pose is not the real person. I try my best to look for the exact moment when beauty and light meet and capture that. I have been able to see many young women turn from a camera shy girl to an amazingly wonderful model. To me seeing this change and the self-confidence that modeling can create was worth all the long hours.I have had the honor of working with some great people from web sites to magazine events. Some of my work was with and continues to be with River Racer X .com, Super Star Entertainment, all of them great learning experiences and excellent companies. Along with several showcase photos on several other model web sites. Here in San Diego have found the under appreciated niche of nighttime photography that brings out a whole different side of everything and everyone engulfed by it. I have begun to do a lot of night shoots using only the natural light that is produced by the area. These shoots are producing some amazing work and the models are enjoying being able to shoot after work. The challenge of a night shoot is very demanding and time consuming but is worth the final result. To me photography is a work of passion, seeing a model go as far as she can is worth every second. Most of my shoots I have my wife a fellow model, along to help with the small details and to help make the model feel comfortable and relaxed during the shoot. I encourage the model to bring a supportive friend along as then we get the best for the time allowed. Also I have found that having a friend along can help make the model show her true side not her nervous side. I emphasize Supportive friend not a jealous or over protective that tends not to help. I also will reward any model that passes any shoot my way email me if you would like to know more Its all about the contacts.A New Model Bit Of AdviceThis bit of advice was passed on to me so I now pass it on to the New Models." Modeling can and is a fun job. Yes it is a job with strict hours and expectations. Before you even start the field, take and purchase 3 top magazines, if in those magazines you find just one photo that you COULD NOT see yourself wearing or doing then think very hard before you start down the road. It may seem like a lot of money but you will spend at times allot of money to get there." (Thanks Neil for this advice)A View On What Is HOTI prefer not to do nude shoots unless asked to do them; bikini is always fun to shoot. There is so much more of a sexy look that can be found with the lights just right and the outfit. That is to me what makes the female model truly hands down the most powerful person on the planet. When it comes to nude or semi I prefer to do a prior shoot with no nudity first that way we build a better working skill between Photographer and model. This way we avoid the deer in the headlights look. You know the one the "oh my god what will grandma say about this picture." Finally one note that I pass on to all models is come to a shoot with a lot of energy. Too often models show up with a low energy that won’t help the photos. Remember you will only get what you the model put into the shoot. It takes a special bond between the Model and the Photographer both are not magic workers but when they are working as one the results are truly amazing. I only shoot playboy style nudes or implied nudes when requested. It’s always best to leave a tad bit to mystery.
