I'm interested in photography, anime, video capping and image editing, writing, some internet games, cycling, camping, hiking, learning guitar, audio recording, re-learning my French, learning German and Spanish (more Spanish than German - but only because there are more people around me speaking Spanish than German), cooking, mountains, wide open plains and also the beach, plus I'd really like to learn to sail. *eventually, some day I'd like to go on a clipper ship - but that's a pipe dream and I know it* I collect knives and I carve wood for a hobby. I'm also active in my son's Scout troop. I'd also like to do a restoration project on a '64 gmc pick up someday - now that my divorce is final, I can start saving money and do some serious looking around. I also like traveling, and I was raised on the Finger Lakes in NY. Oh yeah, I'm a serious coffee drinker, and I love cheese on almost anything (as most of my friends could tell you). Anything else you'll have to ask. Hell, I probably even answer you.. you never know.
As far as historical figures, I'd like to have known Leonardo DaVinci, Beethoven and Gordon Cooper. I would also have liked to have met Frank Zappa, Harry Houdini and Jean Shepherd, but sadly they have passed. Current people I'd like to shake hands with and maybe buy a drink for are John Force, Bruce Willis, Teryl Rothery, John Cleese, Molly Culver and Jennifer Tilly. I'd also like to meet Mick Foley and Al Snow, as well as Terri Runnels and Teri Powers (Yes, I used to mark out for professional wrestling entertainment a few years ago).
let's start with Frank Zappa, add in Cowboy Junkies, Paul Simon, The Cranberries, Jack Johnson, old REM, Jackson Browne, The Beatles, The Allman Brothers, The Police, ZZ Top (up to and including Deguello, but not after that), Susanna Hoffs (with and without the rest of the Bangles), Guns n' Roses, Pink Floyd, Joe Jackson, Crosby Stills & Nash, Alison Krauss, Old U2 (War and Boy), Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan, Nazareth, Dido, The Talking Heads, Pete Townshend and The Who, The Pursuit of Happiness (Don't ask me why - couldn't explain it if I tried), Elvis Costello, The Clash, King Crimson, Aerosmith, Old Rush (up to and including "Moving Pictures" but not after), Santana (!!!), The Eagles, Don Henley, Cure, Jane's Addiction, Melissa Ethridge, Squeeze, Neil Young, Staind, Bonnie Raitt, Rolling Stones, Natalie Merchant both with and w/o 10000 Maniacs, Kate Bush, Lisa Loeb, Dire Straits, Robin Crow, Van Morrison, Tom Waits, the Indigo Girls, Smashing Pumpkins, Sundays, The Smiths, and lately I've discovered groups like Sixpence none the richer, Johnny Lang, and Nick Drake. If you want to listen to some good bluesy guitar, try Jorma Kaukonen (guitarist for the old band Hot Tuna)or I can recommend Michael Hedges works for mind blowing solo guitar playing. I'm also a sucker for Latin Jazz - 'just the sax, m'am, nothing but the sax.'
"Airplane!", "The Blues Brothers", "Resident Evil", "Shaun of the Dead", "Blade Runner" "Alien" and "Aliens", "Hot Shots!", "Clerks", "Dogma", "Mall Rats" and "Chasing Amy", "Bio Dome", "Tank Girl", "Hudson Hawk", "The Great Escape", "Wayne's World", "Evil Dead", "Evil Dead 2", "Army of Darkness", "Night of the Living Dead", "Dawn of the Dead", "The Fifth Element" and "Animal House". I'm a sucker for any movie with Jennifer Tilly, and I like horror over comedy, comedy over action, and action over romance. Jackie Chan movies will beat out most other action movies, but I like martial arts movies in general, too.
X-files, Firefly, Farscape, Charmed (the first 5 seasons), Andromeda, Lost, Stargate SG-1, Angel, Forever Knight, Dead Like Me, the 4400, Smallville, Night Gallery, Kolchak: the Night Stalker, Grey's Anatomy, WKRP in Cincinnati *god love Bailey Quarters! - Jan Smithers powered my early teen years in a way that kicked Loni Anderson's ass*, and for some reason [call it budget-based basic cable], I'm finding myself watching a lot of movies on dvd. ~~There's more I'll add later when I have time~~
"Stranger in a Strange Land", "Dune", Mick Foley's "Mankind Have A Nice Day! A tale of blood and sweatsocks", "A Clockwork Orange", "The Witches of Karres" [good luck with finding that one: probably out of print by now], pretty much anything by Isaac Asimov, Ian Fleming, Terry Pratchett, Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, Elmore Leonard, Raymond Chandler, Mark Twain, Larry Niven, older Michael Crichton (like "The Andromeda Strain", "Terminal Man" or "Congo"), Carlos Castaneda, Douglas Adams, David Eddings, and Piers Anthony. I liked older Tom Clancy novels, and I've even been known to pick up a Clive Cussler novel or five. I also like some of Erica Jong, Janet Evanovich and Alice Hoffman. I'm more likely to pick up a horror or science fiction novel than fantasy, but I like a little bit of everything.
Batman - he did all his crime fighting without super powers or super natural abilities.
