About Me

Sonic MC is and has been performing in the Jungle/Drum'n Bass scene since 1995, he first got his start at New York Cities Koncrete jungle, where TCizlam took the up and coming MC under his wing and taught him the "ins and outs" of the scene as well as the music. Sonic being a very quick study took to the music like a fish to water.

Sonic has performed along side such NYC legends as: DJ Empress, Pish-Posh aka Wally, Reid Speed, DJ Odi, 9x, Christian Beau & Bruna, High Contrast, LTJ Bukem DJ Dark Star, DJ Soul Slinger, Del Mar, Cassien of Ledgin, DJ Seen as well as Hedrush.

Sonic has also worked with such international acts as: Ray Kieth, Goldie, A-Sides, Danny Byrd, Marcus Intelex, Bachelors of Science, Tee-Bee, DJ Dara, just to name a few.

What sets this MC apart from the rest of the pack is his strong voice and his hip-hop style flow which he has kept and stayed with, in a scene where everyone wants to sound like the UK MCs Sonic has stuck with his style and stayed true to himself, the music and the scene above all. As well as the stateside scene, anyone who has ever seen him perform all agree that Sonic is more than just an MC; he is an entertainer of the finest and highest calibre.

Sonic's style is clear, fluid and minimal but not too chatty. He knows when to pull back and be a part of the music. Originally signed to the first American Drum'n Bass label, Junglesky Records out of NYC, he then went on to record for Headrush Records. Sonic has recently left the East Coast and is currently residing in the Northwest in Seattle WA - Where he is the chief rocka! He has three residencies at three of Seattle's hottest weekly jams; Baltic Room on Tues, Club Trinity on Thursdays and Onset at Temple Billards on Saturday nights.

Since moving to Seattle he has worked with: Demo & Cease of the Human Imprint, DJ Slantooth of Compound Records, DJ Zacharia, Kid-Hops, the Dowlz of Kaos Theory and DJ Grym & Flatlyne of Onset Saturday Nights. Sonic is currently working with area locals to record his first solo project. Sonic says, "The reason I haven't bothered to put anything out is because I feel I'm not yet ready and I need time to grow and mature as far as my style is concerned, not to mention I love so many styles and genres of music that i want to put out a record that reflects me as a person and an artist!"

Keep an eye out in the coming year for mixes and singles from Sonic MC! if you happen to be in the Northwest and or in the Emerald City go check out Sonic! you wont be disappointed!

"Yesterday’s free Decibel in the Park at Volunteer Park was ideal. It was sunny and warm, with a big crowd spread over the lawn and in front of the band-shell, from goofy looking ravers to park regulars. Jacob London kicked off with samples of an audience cheering at what sounded like Bobcat Goldthwait grunting and growling and whining and stuttering. Good as Jacob London’s productions are, their sense of humor is perhaps their strongest suit. They warped the vocal tics to a rhythm, dropped a beat under them, and got rolling into some bumpy techno. Maybe a half hour into their set, they blew a fuse or something and lost all sound; they did a little Ashley Simpson jig while waiting for it to come back on. After a few minutes, the sound came back, and someone named Sonic MC came on to reheat the crowd while Jacob London powered back up; he said “fuck” and then apologized because of all the “tots” that were around (there were a good amount of kids and families there). Starting over from dead air, Jacob London switched gears to slower tempo, hip-hop and dancehall inflected tracks, with an MC on some tracks and a clipped Modeselektor sample on another. They worked their way back up into some housier territory for the final part of the set. One wonders if the set was going to be so ranging even before the power out; it worked well for the situation."
